I know it's too late to change it and Bioware is certainly not going to add this option in ME:A,but do you guys also think that it would have been a very cool addition to the game? just imagine,a Turian main character,a Salarian,a Batarian or even a Quarian! God,I would have loved this idea....
Choose the main character's race?

I can't play a game about Human expansion with a Turian...
why not?
You could simply accompany/lead the humans in their journey

Galactic races are closer than ever after ME3 events, remember? Maybe the Turians are just trying to help the humans...

Why would a Turian lead a human colonization effort?
Perhaps legendary explorer and humans are paying tons of credit
Columbus didn't explore on the behalf of his homeland

He also didn't explore on behalf of gorillas.

I'm going to assume that the ME:A authors are not going to indulge in the same amount of duplication and redundancy as the threads on this forum. The idea of being able to select characters of different races (i.e. species) has been thoroughly hashed over in the "I think it's racist you can only play as a Human" thread... in which, by the way, OP you commented, saying you would like to play as a planet (???)... round and round it goes and where it stops nobody knows.

Pfff, nope. That's just stupid. If Mass Effect has taught me anything about anything, it's that humans are just better than every other species out there in every single way shape and form and earth is the bestest planet in the whole wide world!

Humans have the best racial stock too, which made them the only species worth "preserving" by the Reapers according to ME2.

All I know is most of the appeal of Mass Effect for me rests in its portrayal of humanity as a member of a galactic civilization, and if whatever brings us to Andromeda isn't a real collaboration between us and the rest of the MW races, it's gonna be a huge disappointment.

Let's just hope that they don't **** this up.I can deal with being locked into playing a human just fine, although I'd really enjoy playing as other council races. But I really, really goddamn hope it's not just a story about humanity expanding into Andromeda. I mean it can't be, because that would be terrible, but those might famous last words where Bioware is concerned.

All fairness, they've never screwed up a first installment. I'm more worried that they turn this into another trilogy, and consequently into another ME trilogy when they lose the thread.
I hope we just get one offs, honestly.

Not for this game, but I personally like the idea of creating an Origins type experience for this game, where you can make, let's say, 7 different characters. At the start of the game, you have the option of choosing only the first human, or choosing to play through all seven and creating a new character for each one (If only choosing one, you get some created characters the devs make)
Fit the characters in with the lore, and you could get something like...
Human (Male or female, any class choice)
Salarian (Male, must be a class with tech, so Engineer, Sentinel, or Infiltrator)
Asari (Female, must be a class with biotic, so Adept, Sentinel, or Vanguard)
Turian (Male or Female, must be a class with combat, so Soldier, Infiltrator, or Vanguard)
Quarian - (Male or Female, cannot choose a class with combat, so Adept, Engineer, or Sentinel)
Drell - (Male, cannot choose a class with tech, so must be Soldier, Adept, or Vanguard)
Vorcha - (Male, cannot choose a class with biotics, so must be Soldier, Engineer, or Infiltrator)
Personalities get assigned as you play through the origin story, and once the origins are finished, those characters get added to the party. This puts a twist on the tale, giving some of that old school Icewind Dale/Storm of Zehir feel without sacrificing anything, since the characters can just jive right in.
Plus, it lets the entire party be sarcastic assholes where every third comment is about sex. You know, just like real life.
