ME3 and DAI felt a little lacking in this department. ME1/ME2 had a few opportunities to intimidate, threaten and even beat our enemies. My only problem with ME1/ME2 was that renegade Shepard sounded more whiny than scary in some places. It would be really cool to be able to roleplay a character who genuinely terrifies his/her enemies. Someone who makes them **** their pants the same way that Anton Chigurh from 'No Country for Old Men' would (though not quite as brutal towards innocents). Someone who builds up a reputation for being a scary juggernaut of destruction throughout the game and has NPCs reacting to them differently (ie - with more fear) because of that. No, I'm not asking to be a straight up villain. But it would be nice to really feel as if your character is not a hero, but just someone who the good guys feel very relieved to have on their side.
I'd really like to see more opportunities to intimidate and threaten my enemies.

Alien races are not necessarily tuned in to human postures and their meaning. for example: Showing teeth while we smile may be interpreted as predatorial, from a veggie eating race that knows man is a meat eater.
The idea is good, though. I think this is where the wheel choices come into play.

Kinda yes, even so-called "renegade options" are somewhat pale in ME1-2-3 .... it's pretty obvious, that exactly Paragon is considered a canonic playthrough style by BW.

Yes, but smacking them up roughly before talking is kinda universal. We'll find ways to have them understand that we have an offer they simply cannot refuse.

I want to be like a Dark Side Smuggler from Swtor.
Conrad Verner, for example: Wow! I'm your biggest fan I want to be just like you!
Smuggler: Wait, I almost care.... nope. False alarm."
Smuggler: You got guts kid, no brains, but a lotta guts.

"This is what the Blitz felt like Conrad!"
I think it's interesting we're focusing on Conrad now with the intimidate option.
I wouldn't mind if there were more opportunities to solve certain encounters by preventing combat, but I can't say what type of influence system I am a fan of. In ME1 you actually had to invest a bit in charm / intimidate to be able to pass various checks. ME2's system was not great if you didn't get a bunch of bonus points for imports, and ME3's generic "reputation" is so dumbed down, you might as well let everyone take whatever option they want.
If you get to avoid fights or gain extra money or loot, you should probably have to give something up, even if it is a few token talent points.

I'd be a happy camper if i could smack the back of any shmoo who gave me lip and reply with "Shuduup". And if they don't like it and arrive in force, i take their weapons, rough them up some then smack'em again. And maybe once more for kicks.

It means that the freaking ICRAP that I borrowed with safari and the irksome virtual keyboard did not have the "<>" symbols or I couldn't easily find them... I adapted.

Wow, y'all bloodthirsty.
Just kidding! I'm sure they'll do well. This is actually one of the things I'm really looking forward to in Andromeda.

yes, I agree with this topic, fighting an enemy feels a bit superficial, there should be deeper way to interact with the enemies, I actually was thinking about that myself. Thank you for posting.

I mean it.Shock Vette.
Do those things to Jaesa instead.
I have a Twi'lek fetish since ROTJ.
And there is nothing, NOTHING more lovely than being a Sith Lord with a young Twi'lek woman just for yourself...
...so yeah, I'll "shock" her, only in some other way LOL.

I like this idea. I want to be the biggest baddest thing the Andromeda galaxy has ever seen, or at least the opportunity to act like it. All this makes me think of the mission on mars when facing Cerberus and you hear "OH **** IT'S SHEPARD" that line always makes me feel badass because I feel like I earned that reputation. In the new Galaxy we may not be so well known but an old west style bar scene where everyone just backs away slowly while I sit to get a drink may also help.
Let me be actually intimidating!

I agree, I would like this as well. The renegade options weren't always renegade enough. I liked the humorous side of them but they could stand to be a little more threatening.

Reminded me of Smudboy's Review...
Reasons why Commander Shepard is (apparently) no one special;
Shepard is an N7 who became the first human Spectre and stopped Saren.
Shepard is cyborg Jesus and possibly clinically immortal.
Shepard stupidly went through the Omega-4 relay, killed the Collectors and then came back.
Shepard took out the Shadow Broker and replaced it with his hot, lovable Asari archaeologist who just wants to be paid in drinks and little blue children.
Shepard solved the Genophage - or did he?!
Shepard plays chess.
Shepard solved the Krogan/Turian/Salarian conflict.
Shepard solved the Geth/Quarian War by turning the Geth into a true independent people, or by destroying them, or by destroying the Quarians, or by uniting them both in some kind of Matrix-premise story.
Shepard casually breaks swords with his wrists.
Shepard put his god damned foot down, told the driver to pull over so he could roll around on a grassy vantage to take some time out of his busy schedule of saving the god damned galaxy the third time to go toe-to-toe with a spider Reaper on Rannoch because the gun he was using wasn't big enough!
One time, Shepard dressed up as James Bond and told their friend to obsess over their dead boyfriend. Later, this magically saved the Hannar homeworld.
Shepard was so awesome, Emily Wong decided to become a real person, then wanted to become Warf (Prepare for ramming speed!).
Shepard can out-drink any Krogan.
Shepard killed a Final Fantasy reject with a hologram.
Shepard has perfect teeth.
Shepard became Neo, entered the Matrix, destroyed that, then entered the Matrix again and destroyed that.
Shepard saved the Citadel - again!
Shepard defeated Cerberus - again!
Shepard met Zaeed Massani - again! And the galaxy didn't explode... yet. And if it did, they would both be the only ones to make it out alive!
But no one really cares...
Seriously though; why is Aria pushing Shepard around? Why is Shepard buying people drinks instead of the other way around?
Shepard is like the biggest badass who ever lived but he regularly gets treated like a chump.

In ME3 you can only be a complete jerk to your allies by punching them in the guts or shooting then in the back. I wanted to be a Space Batman: be a selfless Paragon hero but scare my foes into madness. Most of the time "Intimidate" meant that your persuade option will be pragmatic but you can't really scare them. I only remember ME1 using the "intimidate" option to scare some low-level mooks.
