Solas

I guess it can work if you consider him a wolf.

Red Templars in game doesn't really raise alarm bells for me.
but their DESCRIPTION! :o .. about red lyrium sucking the heck out of 'em and eating them alive

Which makes it even more horrifying in the Dark Future Redcliffe, where you can see it growing out of people who are long dead, encasing people alive like Fiona and the chilling line of dialogue between the Inquisitor and Dorian where they discuss the implications.

Dorian: If Red Lyrium is an infection... Maker, why is it growing out of the walls?

Inquisitor: Are you sure you want to find out?

the envy demon that is lord seeker lucius - when he does that eew creepy back bend. gross!

also those demons that jump out of the ground at you and make you fall over. they're all spindly and creepy and screamy.

Aah you mean the terrors yeah they'er nasty as well I tend to try to frost step out of the way when they try to do that dosen't always work but sometimes it does. Making them think they have you then suddenly move out of the way is kind of cool.

How can you be relieved after seeing those....things?

---

Wait, Broodmothers count as critters? Cause I hate them even more then the Children.

I've had nightmares of Broodmothers.  :crying:

I thought you meant children "younger people" so that's why i was relieved.

The one in Awakening is scary to me, but the average broodmother is just hideous and disgusting.

However, I'm curious to know what people think the scariest creature that isn't some form of darkspawn is. I honestly can't decide right now, partly because I can't remember them all. The spiders are creepy of course, but I have to mention the nuggalope simply because of it's hands.

Outside of the broodmother there really isn't anything that really scares me in DA:I. The envy demon is disturbing because of how violating the whole encounter with it feels, and it's gross to look at, but it's not really scary, not like *banshee* scary. In my opinion banshees are the scariest thing BioWare has created to date, they were at the same level as a xenomorph, and that is saying something. When I would hear those things scream in ME3MP when it first came out, I would have the most intense fight or flight reaction. It was awesome. :P

I agree that the Children and broodmothers are probably the worst... :o :?

...And for the above reasons...   :crying:

Hmm, for non Darkspawn I'd say Despair Demons.

Did you see their faces?

 Those Children don't scare me

Okay but they don't look scary right ?

You really want to see a Broodmother?

WARNING: Ugly! Scary! Horrible! Nightmare inducing!

And the broodmother does not look scary at all to me to me they look ugly gross and disgusting. Those "children" you mentioned in you other post looked more scary to me then the Broodmother but that's my opinion.

And the mother well she is just ugly and she needs to wear some clothes it's cold out there :P

Maybe not as scary as Silent Hill, but they do have creatures to match a Broodmother.

God of War has a vast gallery of bosses and critters that are seemingly designed to be uglier than their original counterparts, so, you have about six games to find your favourite freak.

Halo for instance, has the Flood, they are creepy and the Gravemind is even more scary than a Broodmother imo, the fact that it likes to spend the time speaking in rhyme and that unlike a Broodmother it is clever, makes the things even worse.

Edit: Please, can anybody explain me what the heck is wrong with this thing? I'm trying to use the "[img=" tag but it automatically changes it for "[url=" when I post it.

I don't use the img tag.. I just click the photo icon on the toolbar and input there. Whenever I use tags, it comes out as a link like yours.

The scariest thing about silent hill to me were the sounds actually... and just thinking something was in the shadows.

To be sure, there are scarier monsters to be found in other game series like Dead Space, Dark Souls, The Witcher, Bloodborne, Barbie's Dreamhouse Party and so forth. Dragon Age has a horror element but it's not too pronounced.

If I'm honest, I find myself more disturbed by a Yarny cosplay than anything in Dragon Age. (Yarny: an adorable critter at mouse size, a terrifying abomination at human size.)

That said, the title of the thread is "Which is the scariest DA critter," not "Which DA critter scares you more than any other series." I still find ghouls plenty gross.
