Who says it is? Alistair can be a degenerate too. It's the Internet, after all. We've got enough to degeneracy that we can afford to spread it around a little. And yet, Alistair is sonehow different because of what?...

*shouts at werewolves* "Surrender!!! And I will be merciful!"

I'm going to have to say Garahel the Hero of the Fourth Blight for this one. Not only was he a City Elf along with his sister Isseya (who indirectly caused the decline and near-extinction of the Gryphons while also saving them at the same time.) he managed to rally the vestiges of the Grey Wardens during that final battle and struck down the Archdemon alongside his best friend and mount, Crookytail.
There are of course other aspects as to why I like him, but it's better to read 'The Last Flight by Liane Merciel' to fully understand the characters. I will however pick out how at the start of the Blight (or near the beginning) Garahel started out as a young and fit Elf, ready to take on the world, yet years later into the Blight he is thinner and stress has begun to age him. The responsibility to took on during this time, coupled with acceleration of the corruption in his veins during the Blight AND dealing with the political antics of Thedas while ultimately dealing the decisive blow at the end. I teared up to say the least.
I raise a glass to Garahel, Hero of the Fourth Blight!

Riordan is definitely cool.
Say what you will about him pulling a Leeroy Jenkins, it at least worked and forced the Archdemon to land. ![]()

Alistair, 'cause he's hilarious. "Swooping is bad." "You're like some sort of... sneaky... witch-thief!" "OK, but if the king asks me to put on a dress and dance the Remigold, I drawing the line." "You know... one good thing about the Blight is how it brings people together." And so on.
I thought Riordan was pretty cool, though. I mean, trying to kill possibly the most dangerous creature in the mortal realm, by jumping on top of it while it's flying through the air destroying stuff is pretty gutsy.

I think Riordan failed. His purpose was not to injury the Archdemon but to kill him.Archdemon tend to regenerate quickly their wounds and when the warden arrive at the top of fort Drakon the archdemon wing is already healed and he can even fly which he do in battle.
He may have failed but it was always going to be difficult to kill while it was flying at least he managed to force it to land so we could finish it off. So at least he kind of succeeded in that even if he couldn't kill it himself. Which he would have done had he survived.

What Riordan did was pretty badass. I doubt any Warden has ever done that (since they had Griffons). Flemeth and Riordan made the HoF's job a helluva lot easier...and why there was such a short blight.

To add more about why its Riordan for me, I thought he really was vital to the victory against the blight and the Archdemon. He gave the knowledge to the player about why the Grey Wardens are the only ones who can kill an Archdemon to end a blight, he appeared to lead the first charge through the gates of Denerim and into the Darkspawn army, and after this, ventured through them by himself to carry out his duty, and try to make the sacrifice that would have ended the blight. Even for a Grey Warden it would have taken a lot of courage to jump off a tower and onto the back of the flying Archdemon, he knew he was going to die either way by doing that. Maybe he was a bit foolish to try and fight alone the way he did, but he certainly severely disabled the Archdemon and did big damage... I would say he made as big of a sacrifice as anybody else in that battle, or any other Wardens who died fighting Archdemons in past blights. Definitely did his Warden duty the way it was intended.
Riordan is badass too, and that always helps.
