Just  a update, there has been a change of plans and I am going to try something different. The results will either be up on the 17th or the 24th as those are the dates I am targeting.

Done :)

Please let us know when you make the related blog post!

Took the survey, with and without edit. Had a grand time and looking forwards to that blog post.

Done - look forward to reading about what you have learned.....

Here are the survey results, thanks to everyone who participated. I decided to do in a different format then originally planned, as I scrapped the blog. I also decided not to mention the age, gender and race results since those were unnecessary. I also had to scrap two of the questions because the results did come out the way I wanted (The two were I asked to pick favorite romance and character). Those came out as lists, when I should have done them differently. Going through and counting all 240 responses would have been a huge pain, plus not everyone answered correctly, though that is my fault for how I did the questions. Oh, well lessons learned for if I ever do another one of these again.

I would have been interested in seeing who was romanced and "do you play as male or female" related to the player's gender.  Thanks for getting back to us!

Good job! That was quite enlightening, really. I loved seeing, for example, how many people like to roll both male and female characters and that Cassandra seems to be rather popular. The popularity of Trespasser I expected, but the results definitely brought a few nice surprises. I know 240 doesn't account for the entire fanbase, but it is still significant enough. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, I should have set up the 'who was your favorite romance question' the same way I set up the 'who did you romance question'. I did not even think of that with gender relating to what gender you play as, maybe next time. I can say a majority of the people who took the survey were female. (I think it was something like 60-40)

Thank you and your welcome. Maybe I will do a Mass Effect one in the future, if I think I could get more responses.

The analysis of the favorite DLC is a near textbook example of the "Pareto" principle, otherwise known as the "80-20 rule" or "the vital few and the trivial many."

Approximately 80% of the "favorite" votes were for approximately 20% of the DLC.

There were 14 DLC in the survey and 3 "DLC" (21.4%) accounted for 77.4% of the votes.  Trespasser, Awakening and Legacy were the 3 favorite DLC.

Well, I have to admit that some results really surprised me:

1) Even if it's the least favourite among the 3 games DA2 is not so hated (Did you see Bioware? Next time think twice before you delete an expansion!)

2) I never expected Isabela to be #1 romance

3) I didn't expect so many people disliked/were not interested in MP

Another good question would be: What is your favourite Vanilla game (without any DLC?). I don't know if the huge approval received by Trespasser (which is also shown in the report about fav DLC) had any influence over players in choosing their favourite game. :)

Actually, Isabela was number two for romance (62.1%), Alistair was first with 69.6%.

I have never played the multiplayer for DA:I, honestly I usually forget the game even has it.

That could be true, but then again the Origins dlc could also have a effect on people picking it, especially with Awakening. You could also wonder how much it has to do with Inquisition and Trepasser being the freshest things in peoples minds.

About Isabela I forgot to add "female" romance. I wasn't expecting her to be the most beloved one amongs girls considering that I have often see so many people who likes to call her a **** (just for information, she is my 2nd favorite after Leliana)

About Awakening I cannot say because I don't remember how it was received at that time, but if I am not wrong many players considers it inferior to the Main Campaign, while with Trespasser it's often the opposite... TL;DR Awakening won't change the player's opinion of DA:O like Trespasser often did with DA:I.

I doubt that was totally Bioware's decision.

Nice job and very interesting. The ones that stood out for me were the results for multiplayer and now  many players played both male and female leads.... I would be interested in knowing the average age and the gender of the respondants.

...

so Isabella went to bed with more people than any other woman in the series

...what's surprising about that ?

Hmm, the gender is interesting as I got kind of the opposite with just male and female. Though this seems do be done as total. You could play as both genders but have 3 male and 1 female characters. The race part matches up as humans and elves are the most popular, though I did not have mine by class. The romance kind of matches up I had Cassandra 1st for DA:I at 49.6% and Josie was 4th at 41.3%. Cullen and Solas were 2nd and 3rd in mine, though I did have a majority female response and there chart says 'who will you romance' while mine was 'who have you romanced', suggesting it was done before the game came out? Though I am sure EA has larger sample sizes then me,

That makes sense then. Yeah, I was expecting Morrigan or Leliana to be 1st too, but I guess people like to get their pirate on.  :P  Yeah, I guess that is a good point. Trespasser did wrap up Inquisition and set the stage for 4 almost perfectly.

Sure I can give you those. Gender was 61.7% female and 38.3% male. Age was 1.7% were under 18, 24.2% were 18-24, 42.9% were 25-34, 15.8% were 35-44, 9.6% were 45-54 and 5.8% were 55 and older.

This is interesting to me. Did not realize most were in the ages of 25-34 and more were female.

My answers, as best as I can remember:

-I have played all three by now (Initially just DAO, then a run of DAO and DA2 before DAI, now DAI but planning to return to the start sometime/year).

-I'm torn between Origins and Inquisition being my favorite, but I've come to the opinion that while I consider Origins to be a better game, and Inquisition to have several things that really annoy me, Inquisition ultimately may be my favorite Dragon Age game, if only at least because it 'tickles' the things that fascinate me most in stories. But it is tight between the two. I am judging based on the final patched and fully DLCed product.

-I have played all DAO and DA2 DLCs, but no DAI ones. I'll get GOTY this or next year and dive in then.

-Trespasser may end up my favorite DLC and since I've seen enough of it, I selected it, but since I haven't played it, I'd have to say Awakening. Excluding 'expansion packs', I'd say it comes between Legacy, Witch Hunt, and Stone Prisoner. Not sure.

-I play as both, but so far primarily male. My first or at least second alt must be female though.

-Human. But I have started playthroughs of all of them, and I have a major Elf alt ready to get going with as soon as possible. So Human/All. I least favor Dwarf so it surprised me that I liked starting a Female Dwarf in DAI before any Qunari.

-I have romanced Zevran (m/m), Fenris (m/m), Iron Bull (m/m). Solasmance planned. I have at least a few more planned if I get to starting the series again, and they won't be so much of the 'stand-in for me' RP but something more varied (but still something I consider relatively 'canon'; DAO Male Human Warrior with Morrigan, DA2 Male Hawke Mage or Warrior with Isabella?, DAI Female Elf Rogue with Solas), then later 1-2 series playthroughs will be much more varied (non-Human Wardens, whatever combo Hawkes, Dwarf and Qunari Inquisitors, more 'secondary' designed(?) romances, etc).

-In the end, I don't like DAI's MP. I haven't tried it with the more recent updates, but I'm pretty confident in regarding it as only 1/2 of what it could, should have been. There's some good ideas with it, but buggy and slogging and shallow gameplay keep my from really liking getting into it. But there was the skeleton of something great so I hope Bioware considers it successes and learns from its failures.

-I say yes to MP. I consider DAI's a trial run like I consider ME3's (more successful) one as well.

-Yes I am looking forward to it. While I pay a lot of attention to DA, it is hard to consider myself a 'fan', yet I am INTERESTED in where things go, and I don't agree with those who think DAI made things worse for the series (overall). I think there is promise, just several major factors kept DAI from its potential. As opposed to DA2 that was rushed and DAO that may still be the best game but it doesn't strike me interest as much. Is DAI one of my favorite games? Hell no. Does it draw me into Dragon Age? Personally, yes. Let us go to Tevinter (etc). And thank god last gen won't be important.
