Non-combat exploration?

Since Andromeda is apparently focusing more on exploration than its predecessors, will we be able to jump, climb, ect, while exploring uncharted planets this time around? It would be kinda dull if the only thing we can do outside combat is walking.
We apparently have a jetpack and can at least jump with that. There is supposed to be a genuine z or third axis, unlike previous mass effect games.
And we will be driving the Mako again, which isn't walking. It will be a makeover though and a lot faster than the original.

I wouldn't get your hopes up on that one. I think the best you could hope for is being able to pilot an underwater vehicle. I can't really see the payoff for swimming in mass effect.

I was kinda hoping to 'cause, to name an example, TW2 had a disgusting exploration system and in WH they not only fixed it gloriously, Geralt could SWIM and DIVE this time. If ME:A is gonna highlight the exploration thing, they should do the same.I wouldn't get your hopes up on that one. I think the best you could hope for is being able to pilot an underwater vehicle. Ugh... Swimming in the Witcher 3 was abysmal. They took Geralt's already tank like controls and made them slower and less responsive. The most you could do underwater was awkwardly shoot drowners with a crossbow, and I wouldn't exactly call that a highlight of my experience with the game.
If we're swimming at all, then it had better be jet-assisted, however I don't really see the point in even letting us swim. Platforming with the jetpack and driving around in the Mako should provide more than enough exploratory entertainment.

I know but still better than running around in a lifeless wasteland as in ME1 (which is still hilariously better than ME2/3 exploration).Ugh... Swimming in the Witcher 3 was abysmal. Actually, I might take the wastelands over swimming, but that's a personal thing I have against swimming mechanics.
Regardless, if ME:A has the same lifeless planets like ME1, then swimming isn't going to save it. Extra modes of exploration (especially sluggish ones) won't change the fact that there's nothing interesting to explore. If ME:A's planets have good level design, interesting art direction, and meaningful quests, then the Mako and a jetpack should be more than enough to keep exploration engaging. Quite frankly, any other standard traversal mechanic would be a waste of time to animate.

Swimming in games only really has a part to play in discovering hidden rooms in dungeons or adding tension to sequences due to running out of oxygen. This just doesn't fit with ME because we are exploring planets, spaceships, bases etc and we should have nearly unlimited oxygen if wearing a suit (which we would be most of the time). And ME is a squad based game which would make it more challenging to implement.

Swimming would be pretty sweet. Or well, going underwater, anyway.
I could just imagine going to a planet covered entirely with water, and as you dive down in your submako, you fight massive lovecraftian behemoths in the vein of thresher maws.
One can dream.

If we do go underwater, we will probably not be able to do much. Probably just fly through the water with our jetpack, and that would not be that fun. I say one thing at a time. If they nail the jetpack controls, and all the z axis thing, then maybe they can add underwater missions or whatever. But honestly I think jetpacking will be fun enough.
I really liked some of the ME2 missions you could find while scanning planets, and not all of them were combat oriented. I however only did them out of curiosity, and I hope that ME:A will have better rewards for exploring apart from satisfying curiosity.

How about skinny dipping with your LI? Now that's what I call non-combat exploration! ![]()

After DA:I, I'm done with hopping, skipping and a jumping, to be frank.
Bio made a big fuss about the Mako. So, I doubt we will be diving.

¡NO JUMP! ¡NO PHOQING JUMP! At least not from mere legs. I will kind of accept them as thrusters or whatever.
And exploration battles please. For non combat exploration I would rather go to walk in the mountains IN REAL LIFE.
Climb, OK. Crouching and crawl would be nice.

I myself want nothing more than the return of seamless transition between combat and non-combat situations, AKA the holster/draw weapon button from ME1.

I'll take basically any opportunity to reference Gerry Anderson.
