I tried out the Geth Engineer for the first time today, and when I turned on Hunter Mode and started sprinting, the HM interface flickered off. Stopped sprinting; interface reappeared. Then throughout the match HM randomly flickered on and off out of nowhere, making it hard to see things and giving me a killer headache. I tried restarting the game, but the problem persisted.

 

Anyone know why this might be happening and, more importantly, how I could fix it? (And to be clear, I'm not talking about the visual effects of HM itself. All the visuals just turned on and off repeatedly. :/)

Any other artifacts or something strange? Could be your video card overheating/going bad or driver problems. 

 

But it's most likely working as intended, meaning it's just a buggy game. You could also check the integrity of your game files.

I don't have any noticeable artifacts in MP, I don't think, but occasionally there's some funky stuff in SP cutscenes.

Just right click your game in Origin and there should be an option to check for game updates/something like that. Don't have Origin installed now, so can't tell for sure.

It usually happens during a lot of crap happening on screen or just plain ol' lag. Try playing Hunter Mode on Windowed mode. Now that's a different kind of story on Rannoch.

It happens to me even on host, AND when nothing is happening on screen. Like, I try sprinting when there are no enemies or allies in my vicinity, and it still flickers.

 

EDIT: Might be worth noting that I've never had this problem with the Geth Scanner. It's only Hunter Mode.

Your Geth Mobile Platform Toaster is malfunctioning. You could try one of those "No Hunter Mode" builds by Cain, you know..if you're stupid

I haven't reached that level of stupidity yet, but we'll see!

 

I could just try the method of "enable and disable as needed" but it seems tedious. I mean, ultimately it's probably a matter of "ur computer is **** and you don't deserve to be happy," based on the other reports of this I've stumbled across.

I've seen this exact issue happen when attempting to play ME3 MP on low end PCs with integrated graphics. It also happened sporadically with my old PC and the ancient GPU it was running towards the end of its lifespan. It specifically happened with HM and not Geth scanner, as you describe. So if your problem is the same as what I saw, the GPU could be a potential culprit.

I've seen this exact issue happen when attempting to play ME3 MP on low end PCs with integrated graphics. So if your problem is the same as what I saw, the GPU could be a potential culprit.

Who said anything about dropping Hunter Mode. Just waste that gear slot anyway and see what happens.

I have done both with dropping hunter mode and rolled with the scanner...or vice versa with that gear slot...there is not a gigantic difference in damage output...It's all almost the same, depending how you spec for weapon / power damage along with adding all the amps. the only noticeable difference I ever saw, was the gimping of the shields with hunter mode....but even that can be worked around.

You could try one of those mods that remove the visual effects without affecting any of the bonuses since you're on Pc. That should help if it is the visuals that are bothering you. Do you also lose all the gameplay bonuses like Rof, accuracy bonuses etc while HM is flickering on and off?

I came in here just to say this, damn you Sir TeaKrogan!

If the overlay is misbehaving, disable overlays, is simple fix, that I am jealous of. Most of the overlays give me headaches. Which is sad, because they all offer awesome bonuses.

I use the BPP on my GE and my TSol. I can tell you beyond any doubt, the RoF bonus is VERY noticable. And almost ever gun benefits from the increased accuracy, as the bullet spread on most defies logic. HM isn't about the "Damage Bonus", or even the wallhax (Geth Scanner accomplishes this without sacrificing shields). Plain and simple, it's about the Weapon bonuses, unless some weird kind of Geth Vorcha Trooper that doesn't understand how amazing he is with guns, then it is about the Power Damage. And movement speed bonuses are also amazing.
