Hey guys, im aware that this bug is pretty well known for many players of the game, i only just encountered it last night... And its been puzzling me most of today. The autosave point stopped me from going back before the mission.
I watched a video of the quest done without problems on youtube, so i've figured out that i don't actually have the guard coming upto me about the attack from the lake... So like many others i just have an empty town with a few soldiers, searched high and low for the supposed 'hidden zombie" but no luck...

You can try reloading from the auto save and see if that fixes it. If you don't get the guard coming to you then you'll have to go up the road like you're leaving to see if one of them is stuck at the top. It also takes a bit to register sometimes on the Xbox that they're all dead, maybe it's the same on PS3. I've had that happen to me so many times it's become habit now to save compulsively every 10 minutes and immediately before starting any of the major plot points. You can try going from the autosave point and see if that fixes it, but you'll likely have to start from the last save before entering the town.
