Just because Bioware said blah blah blah, doesn't mean there isn't another planet in another galaxy that has spawned a species physically resembling the Asari or any other Milky Way denizen.

So............

I find it odd that the species have all sexualized characteristics of a desirable human woman; feminine faces, generous bosoms, young body for centuries old creatures. No sags, no wrinkles, no zits, no period.... heck even pregnant Asari don't even look like they're pregnant.

I would love to see a less feminized Asari, not necessarily masculine but neutral. Or better yet, if you play as straight female, you see the Asari appearance and personality altered slightly to appeal to a straight woman which explains their mystical allure and universal appeal.

Anyway, I felt the whole "Asari were all beautiful women" was forced into the narrative. Of all the descriptive I use, I tend to rank them on idiotic naive to uberbitch scale rather than their breast sizes.

Because that's stupid. There are literally endless alien design possibilities but you want them wasting time and resources on a race of androgynous Asari knockoffs?

So basically what you want is just a male Asari, without it technically being considered a male Asari. An androgynous Asari would be one you'd be unable to determine the gender of just by looking at, but you are specifically asking for a masculine looking Asari.

Though personally I just don't see the point. It's not like there wont be eye candy in the game anyway for the ladies(or men who prefer that).

If you could make an actual interesting character out of it that wasn't just a walking PSA like Krem was maybe, but that's how these kinds of characters typically end up going in a BioWare game.

"More masculine" with some feminine is my desired look for some asari, not all. Women can look masculine and not be men. Looking masculine does not make you male. Having an asari with "more masculine features" would not turn them into men.

Example of two women who have no interest in being seen as a man, but have masculine features:

I'm sure there is room in this fiction for some asari in the universe that look masculine.

Also as Liara stated, asari are not female as humans understand it. They have maternal instincts and give birth. They do not breed like us (so they do not have genitalia like us), they mind meld to breed.

I don't see the issue with that, considering how much time & resources they've already wasted on other crap like focusing on the inferior MP mode for fluff updates when there were still plenty of SP bugs to fix.

So Bioware has no aversion to wasting their time.

Carrie-Anne Moss herself is amazing. But Aria is still feminine but more of a kind who don't give the **** about others. But she have qualities that was conventional seen in men with power; ruthless, calculating, domineering. Kinda like a war goddess than a nymph.

I don't remember there being a pregnant asari anywhere. The only pregnant person I recall is that human woman who was arguing with her brother in law about gene therapy in ME1, and her body model was identical to everyone else wearing that standard issue dress.

….no period? Andraste's fiery knickers. Why would this even be in the game? XD

At certain angles she looks manly. I've noticed it as well. She's still hot though.

"Blue rose of Ilium"? If you let her go back to Char, she's having a baby in ME3. So sad.

well... almost every Asari you saw seems to be in eternal pms... give them a break or something

Manly or mean, because she does frequently sport a scowl?

The Asari shouldn't appear differently to different characters. The bachelor party dialogue was probably intended to be humorous, and not taken as a canon info dump on Asari biology. Some sort of mental shape shift routine wouldn't affect people who never met the Asari, and their true form wouldn't remain concealed to anyone viewing them on the ME equivalent of TV or the Internet. It would also make it impossible for other species' doctors to treat them, something we know isn't an issue. They're also able to wear human clothing and armor, unlike Turians or the Krogan. Andromeda making the bachelor party speculation canon would strain suspension of disbelief even more their mind meld ability.

Not all Asari were beautiful either. While major characters like Liara and Samara were designed to be attractive, most of the NPCs weren't. Some of the Asari NPCs were unattractive, whether or not that was intended. The one that plays Traynor in space chess springs to mind, or the Illium cop from Samara's recruitment mission. Sure, they're all relatively fit...but then so is every human character. They all shared the same body model.

Let the races of the Milky Way rest already. I hope I don't see any of them in andromeda besides humans and possibly one of each in the crew doing some mundane task that you have to go to the bottom of the ship to remember they are there.

New aliens and a new adventure. Just have to let go bro and accept reality. Change is good

I'm down with the idea of an androgynous race, but I'd rather see a new alien rather than changing the Asari. Even the ones with more "masculine" looks still look like women to me. Whether or not they are seems to be a matter of some debate, but they still look like women.

The writers have their hands full with dealing/dodging the quarian/geth outcomes, the genophage circumstance and the state of the Milky Way. They are probably going to leave most of the MW races alone as much as they can. I can't see the value of changing or retconning Asari at this point. Bring on the new aliens. :)

There are multiple dialogues that generalized the Asari as beautiful being. The novels, the game. Shepard said them multiple of times regardless of the sex, Ashley, Kaidan, Tali, James, Ken, Krogans, the entire universe view them as a species filled with beautiful women and they are universally attractive. Regardless of some random game CGI mechanics, "Asari = Beautiful" are fixed.

And they are aliens, not human females who are painted blue with scales and tentacles nor were they supposed to be perceived with the same way human males view the females of their species. They are also the only race with the capabilities to alter brain functions to everyone they met.

Honestly, I thought it was odd that Banshee barely look human as their pre-reaper form. In fact, more alien on their own than the ones merged with another species (Brutes/Cannibal). Its not really that impossible that the Asari could alter everyone's mental state to view anything about them with something visually pleasing, familiar and less alien to the viewer. It is scifi after all.

The only change needed is that the Asari - like every other race - should have a variety of body models, various levels of attractiveness, different types of faces, etc.

The rest, including the ill thought out theory raised by a trio of drunk bar patrons, is just your need to ****** (urinate) into someone's drinking cup because you don't like their drink.

Why? Because I prefer to view the Asari as proper aliens and not wet dreams material?

The Asari celebrate cultural dominance and intellectual superiority upon all other races and effectively pacifies them for thousands of years. Everyone inadvertently worshiped them and they viewed themselves are living goddess and they treat all short-lived sapient like pets; something to be used and disposed and treat long-lived creatures like them as a threat to be neutralized; hence the sterilization of the Krogan race. They have the ability to alter nervous system responses using electrical impulses by touch and it make the recipient feels good and at the same time the Asari gain access on every living memory, soul and even their genome. Easy access to knowledge, power and wealth. Also they can do it in reverse, planting memories and the things they wanted others to see. The process also alters Asaris' biology, their body developed to become even more and more attractive. This isn't a drunken theory, this is in the bloody codex about their culture and mating rituals.

Which make them legitimately scary and really cool and proper scifi-ish...  but if it ruins the fantasies you had on them being harmless pretty blue girls... that's your problem man.

NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE!

I would be so sad and disappointed if they ruined Asari like this.

If you need your androgynous race so bad just make it a new race! Why mess with the Asari? This is just a terrible idea.

An androgynous person is someone who at first glance you wouldn't be able to figure out if they're a guy or a girl. That picture of the Asari in the OP isn't androgynous, it's a straight up dude LOL!
