I think the effort to create a spectacle of fanservice for female players with Thane was interesting, in a strange sort of way.

Kasumi and the game's camera angles seem insistent on convincing me that Jacob is also God's gift to women.

I'm curious who your favorite male interest in ME is...? Not respective of what ME's camera wants you to want...

I personally like the asari just as they are. They are my favorite race in fact (well, tie with the quarians). I think they already amply exemplify, if not androgyny, genderlessness. An asari like Aria T'Loak tends to dress in a less feminine manner and speaks and acts in an overtly masculine manner. We see asari as detectives, dancers, soldiers, doctors, politicians, and on and on and on. Some are more on the girly side of things, others are more masculine, still others are in between. It's why I love them as a species. Now if you're talking about appearance, that's something I wouldn't cross my fingers on. It's a rare video game that has different body shapes for NPCs. Dragon's Dogma does do it, so there's that. But BioWare has always used the same model for each gender/species. Luckily asari aren't super feminine OR masculine; in fact it's another reason why I like their design so much.

By the way, that first picture posted is concept art by a fan of an asari male.

Although she isn't androgynous I also thought Aria had a slightly masculine vibe at times. Her personality was a big part of that, but she also had somewhat masculine bone structure in her face.

Damn it I had a nice queue of multiquotes but it disappeared for some reason.

Regarding the asari as being fan service... I know when people say "fan service" it's usually a good idea to just check out of the conversation because those people are just bitter or weird or... well, nothing ever good has come out of accusing something or someone of being fan service. But just this once I want to jump in and say that was most likely definitely the case in ME1, but that the asari have evolved far past that. At this point if a person thinks they are fan service, it's simply because that person probably just has a boner for asari in general, and that's their issue, not the game's.

Regarding Thane, I see where... whoever said that... (DAMN IT MULTIQUOTE) is coming from, but actually as I was playing through the trilogy again, I was disappointed I couldn't romance Thane with my BroShep :P I think he would've been a great romance, albeit tragic... HOWEVER... I also see where you guys are coming from in regards to the romances available to straight female Shep. To me the only romance that is even wroth is for Fem Shep is Liara. Kaidan, if he has the same stupidly jealous lines around FemShep that Ashley has around BroShep in ME1, is a freaking whiny bore, Thane has all his aforementioned issues, Garrus is imo boring as all get out and also looks like a dinosaur, Jacob is weird and literally leaves you for another woman wtf, and on it goes.

I'm so, so, so relieved that this damn series has Kaidan for my BroShep; there's no whiny stupidity and awkward come ons in ME1 (the way the women in ME1 and Me2 frigging threw themselves at me as a BroShep was absolutely ridiculous; I can only assume that either BioWare thinks that's what straight men want OR the majority of straight male gamers do actually enjoy that... betting on the former). There's delicious encounter in ME2 which is just ripe with tension and regret, and then the sweet end-of-times romance in ME3.

Honestly it's kind of funny how (imo of course) BroShep x Kaidan ended up being the most organic, meaningful relationship in the series, though I'm sure some could make that argument for FemShep x Garrus since they, too, know one another for three games, but I'm just not as familiar with that one.

You not responding works for me, since it was rhetorical criticism more than me expecting you to justify your sense of superiority. you might as well spare me the self righteousness as well. After seeing you go around preaching how much better at least two of the bisexual male characters are with a male protag than a female one, i'm hardly going to cower in the face of your disapproval. that kind of prejudice might not hurt me anymore but i still think its gross.

The answer is slim to none.  Asari are already established in the lore in how they look, act, etc.  You obviously just have a trollish vendetta against the Asari and that's it.  If you wanted LGBT representation you wouldn't have focused on the Asari.  If you wanted Androgynous alien(s) you not only wouldn't focus on the Asari (again because they're already established) but more on a new race entirely.  Not to mention that picture you posted is -NOT- "androgynous" it's flat out male.  If you wanted different body types (fat, small chested, slimmer, ugly, etc) then, again, you would not be focused on just the Asari.

So just stop your thinly veiled attempt at trolling with your obvious vendetta (and passive aggressive insults on those that may like them) against the Asari race in some manner to seem "PC" for whatever reason.

So now a couple of questions:

1 Would you be opposed to seeing diversity, of this kind, among asari?

2 Most important (this is the BSN after all) would you romance an androgynous asari?

Spoiler

If BW was willing to devote the resources, i would be fine with this option for Asari. Now, would i wanna bed one? No. My base nature's all grunt-grunt so it's all about cute, curvy and dah booty womens.

I wish we could all get past this silly idea that fanservice is inherently bad. Or, more specifically, that fan service geared towards straight males is inherently bad. I grow rather tired of these "Asari should be removed or redesigned because fanservice" threads. They seem to appear monthly on the BSN.

We obviously really need new information. This place is starting to look like a fish tank with neurotic goldfishes swimming in circles. Necroed threads, necroed threads in the disguise of new ones, endless variations of the same thread...

Taking breaks more often, really not missing anything here lately. E3 can't come quick enough.

You are clearly a casual gamer. Real gamers know that it's not about picking the right ship for you, it's about how your ship is right and therefore everyone else's is wrong!

I'd have to say the character threads for DA:I took up the torch with a surprisingly solid capacity for exploding into melodrama!

I'm sure things are quieter nowadays. I could look for myself, but I'm scared.

BioWare is not going to have drell anymore, they barely had 3 before.

BioWare is not going to make an androgynous or cute male race. The new race is said to be a cross between a vorcha and collector.

BioWare's best bet is to make some asari androgynous so the straight female players won't be put off by their appearance and maybe in the future will have one as a romance. Asari are not female like us human females, as Liara stated, and an androgynous asari could exist if we are to believe they have as much physical variety as human females.

As to your ridiculous assumption, and that is putting it lightly because someone asking for a few crumbs isn't stealing all the cookies the overfed male gamers get, I am not asking for all asari to be made androgynous and have stated so many times. Hardly a vendetta against asari if I still want plenty to remain the same. Stop taking video game requests as if it will inflict pain and misery on your real life.

I'm fine with it. There's plenty of women who have masculine/non-feminine features, a "flat" body shape, small breasts. All contribute to appearing more androgynous. They'd still be women and there'd still be very feminine Asari, just adding more versatility.

And I'd be into it. Would romance. It's not like I'm pitching a fit if they don't do it (sadly, I feel the need to clarify that on this forum), I just see merit to the idea.

I'm staying out of this fight, but where did you hear that? I haven't heard that as a rumor on the forums and this place is a rumor mill. Shinobi didn't say anything about the looks of any of the races he might have seen. BioWare isn't going to say anything until next month; E3 starts on June 14th, and EA's E-Play is happening at the same.

Did IGN or any such gaming "news" sites say as such over the last week?

This leak is unconfirmed. But this leak was the first to tell us we would have a blonde human female squadmate, which turned out to be true.

Cool! I think he is the most appealing out of all males... Vega is all right but kinda down the list I think ME2 just gets sort of skipped over personally...

As for females..
