I'm not sure what aspect of the Asari you are calling pseudoscience. You do realize that there are multiple examples of all-female vertebrate species that reproduce via parthenogenesis...right? And the fact that the Asari look so human is forgivable, in my opinion, by virtue of the science fiction genre setting.

The Asari have already been established as the species we know from the original trilogy-- blue (not)women. Changing that is a retcon, and would be a terrible idea, in my opinion.
I'm all for new species. That would be the place for something like this, should they feel the need. I'm against needless retcons changing existing lore.
There are purple asari.
