Sadly yes and no.
From what we've heard MultiPlayer will be sold separately and require a 19.99 USD a month subscription. You can thank guys like Mordokai and QaurianMasterRace who kept telling Bioware that ME:A should be MP only because they generate more income for the company over time and repeatedly iterate their willingness to pay more for the product if they went this route. BioWare are also making the Mako upgrades MP only, which isnt such a bad thing really because it means we get a mako mode in MP. The overall logic is that they can work on each game separately because there are separate teams, this will allow them to release either the MP or the SP as soon as its ready, before finishing off the other. Which may in the end result in a more refined product but ultimately forces people to pay for two versions of the game.
Not to mention the paid subscription and the pay to import characters from ME3 option which I feel comfortable calling a complete waste of time and rip off within the same sentence.
All in all though what they're offering isn't that bad when you think about it. I'll pay but I'll probably complain about it later.

I guess they could go that route if they're willing to sell a million or so less copies.

I'd hit that if I had to.

If they do this, than I will not buy it (and I guess that I am not alone...I mean if I a futuristic multiplayer shooter then I'll buy Titanfall or the new Call of Duty (which I am watching anyway because I like the concept of ground and space-battles - which Mass Effect sadly lacks completely (at least ones where you can participate in!) - and the concept of having your own ship (like in Mass Effect!)) that will be released this year!)
Stil, I don't think they will so IMHO you've been trolled (lucky us!)

God, I hope you're joking and there is no monthly subscription fee for the multiplayer component...

Ach. Splitting of the SP and MP, i'd be fine with. Subscription for MP? No. I didn't get to play MP because of the f'ing subscription for XBLame and i wanna experience it when i play MEA on my PC.

This is where I read it. I too believe ME is a single player to its core!! This article says it's a first multiplayer for ME franchise. With ME 3 having multiplayer, the wording made me think ME Andromdeda was strictly multiplayer.

It only say that it will have a multiplayer mode too. That it claims that it is the first ME game that has it is most likely a miss by the writer or the person that they talked to.

You can tell that it wont be MP only by the fact that the forums aren't in flames right now.
but there will be a SP for sure, and I'd say we can almost guarantee a MP after how successful ME3 MP was.

I went ahead and clicked the link, and read the brief article. There was nothing new therein. The quotes had nothing to do with multiplayer. If the "writer" was trying to suggest as much (it's hard to tell, really), then he's intentionally twisting and taking things out of context. The game is, much like ME3, a single-player action RPG with a multiplayer component. I've seen nothing to contradict this,

Ah the old smoke and mirrors. I get it, sometimes you believe the weirdest/stupidiest things but not even EA with Bioware are that stupid to release what was basically completely story driven game as multiplayer only. Or take off a piece of it and sell it separately not unless they sell the main game for like $30.
