Do enemies chase you?

My character is almost level 7 and I am on the quest "Trouble with Wolves" in the Hinterlands. No matter which way I tried, it seems there is but one way to get to the place where the map points to. And that is past the point of one of the Fade Rifts of "Rifts on the farms", ( I closed the other one already. ) and from what I was able to find out that is a level 12 rift so my current party has no chance against that Rift ... YET.

So my question is ... if I get on my mount and race past that point to the left and keep going, will those demons chase me or will they stay where they are?

There is a radius around all the rifts marked by green, floating smoke when you get close to the edges. If you go out of this radius, the demons despawn.

So yes, you can run past the demons. Starting from the camp by Dennets farm, if you go down the hill to your right (if you are facing the tents) and stay close to the stonewall on your left, I think you stay out of the radius, or are at least really close to the edge so the demons should leave you be.

I think you can flee from most enemies. Except for bears, they will chase you across the world, hellbent on ripping you to shreds.

Bears and wolves pretty much chase you anywhere. Wolves will not go into camps but bears will. The rest don't chase too far.

Yes and no. Dragons don't chase you, and demons have to stay close to the Rifts.

With other enemies, if you get far enough away, they will give up. Unfortunately, wolves and hyenas can keep up with you even on horseback, so they will literally chase you across a map. Besides dismounting and fighting them, the only way to shake them is to stop at one of your camps. Enemies will never enter your camps, mostly because they hate talking to the Requisition Officer. :P

Poison spiders too, they are faster than hyenas and have a ranged attack.

But I mount up and advance to the rear (retreat) from a lot of battles, usually because I don't want to waste time fighting a low level mob.

If you approach from the east and skirt the rock wall to the north, you barely trigger the rift. It only opens for a few seconds, then closes again, not long enough for any demons to aggro. Course its the longer way around, but I prefer it, because I like to waive hi to SPOILER the SPOILERO as I pass through.

LoL I will think about it. :) As for Poison Spiders, well I met only one so far but it it suddenly attacked from the back and was already extremely close when my character got up again. ( Makes sense, spiders are fast in real life to ... albeit not that big. :) )

The Western Approach, Hissing Wastes and Frostback Basin are lousy with the bastards. (You'll be able to access those areas later.)

The requisition officer, and her buddy, could write a book about the times my IQ and party ran to camp and were slaughtered by bears, while they stood there and watched us die.

Odd, since I've seen bears come close to camp but turn around, as though there were an invisible barrier.

Likewise, I've ridden through camps just to shake a pursuing hyena, as I don't want to get off my horse just to kill this one creature. (I don't need the XP and he doesn't drop anything good anyway.)

Something that can save you when a bear follows you to a camp: Use a tent. The bear will be gone and you're back to full health. :D

I am forever getting bears IN the Hinterlands Forest camp, a couple of stealth bandits too, they won't attack in camp but if they chase me to the camp, then they will attack even in the camp. Great Bears stay out of camp and those on the Storm Coast stay out but, others will follow me in . Fun seeing how far you can get what to chase you LOL.

Best one was the one In The Saddle run I did the final race with wolves chasing me most of the way.

I remember a bear chasing my group from the mercanary fortress till the Forest Camp, everyone was dead beside Blackwall and they kept spawning a few feet behind him while he ran away from the bear

Can't find the screenshot I took, but I found a different one.

Bears don't care who, or what they chase.

Ah yes, bears. We have dismissed that claim.
In my last game, Blackwall (the only one not ground to a pulp at the time) was chased all over Hafter's Woods by a pair of obsessed bears and a mabari. He finally got rid of them by hiding in a cave.

The first two Corpses in the Fallow Mire will chase you all the way back to the first camp. Then they'll wait around until you leave the protection of the Requisitions Officer.
