Ah, but the Asari *don't* have DNA that is similar enough to all races.

What they have is a mechanism that can 'translate' other species DNA as a way to randomize their own. There will never be a half-human half asari, or half hanar, or half krogan or half anything thats not asari. Mentions of being half-anything in the game are figures of speech, not literal descriptions.

All asari are only asari and all asari have only asari genes.

As the kiosk attendant on Ilium said, "Charr didn't realize that our babies would be asari. Aliens don't always get that."

I know, and that is the reason the Asari race makes no sense.

It's not possible for a living organism to "translate" other species DNA.Only races with the same DNA can reproduce.

Thinking about the Asari having kids with other races is kinda like thinking about a dog that became pregnant after having sex with a pig,and it's still going to give birth to puppies.

It's impossible for a race to have kids with a different race, let alone "translate" it's genes and randomize their own...

Again, you're assuming physical transfer of material.

There's no physical transfer of material. There's no 'reading' of another species DNA through biochemical means. Hell, they don't even need to touch!

However its done, its clear that it does not involve an exchange or absorption of DNA through bodily fluids or another means. I suspect it doesn't involve reading "DNA" as much as it does reading the subtle electrochemical fields of the partner's nervous system to generate mutations in the asari gamete being completed.

You want an explaination? Science fiction or space magic. You'll have to go with one of them.
