The N7 guy is mostly like the protag's sibling

I'm a litle leery of this idea. If they give us a sibling as a squadmate, I don't want them to die or otherwise be put on a bus for the rest of the OC. If the ME is serious about having family connections playing into the plot, then they should have the sibling around at least for a game.

I had a problem with sheps.mom for spacer. If we're role-playing why can't we leave the whole family connection to our.imagination. Why did my mom's name have to be Hannah? I don't have a choice in that?

Great. If it's the sibling, we get the least favorable combo of him/her being put on a bus and becoming the villain. I'm not saying that the ME team has that in mind, but still....

PC: "I love you! We're blood!"
Sib: "But I'm evil now and stuff. I'm brainwashed."
PC: "I know you're still in there!"
Sib: "Ugh...can't...fight...plot..contrivance. Must..not..survive..to..next...game." <shoots self>

Possibly me: Oh goodie, another crappy end boss fight in BioWare's hisory.

Eh, I will reserve judgement on the whole Robinson Ryder family thing until playing the game.  Honestly don't mind having a character without any family ties, or with ties that are fairly minimal with respect to the story.
