I dont believe it was orded by EA, The Sims 3 does contain gay marriage, which is a political topic in seversal contries right now. It is more likely that Bioware did not have enough time to put homosexual romances in or did not want to do them.

But I fully support a DLC or a patch that turns one of the male and one the female companions bi and let them be romanced by both shepards.

You're a good necro. Yes you are, yes you are.

I doubt Bioware is afraid of Fox News. They can move to Australia if they are.

This is a little off topic...

You're kidding right? The Austrialian government right now is a nanny state beyond belief, refusing to classify and in many cases banning what would be M rated games over here and even considering a nationwide Internet filter. It would be arguably one of the worst places for a game developer to relocate to, especially if their work typically involves mature subject matter, like BioWare's does.

Also the owner of Fox News, Rupert Murdock is Australian.

Seriously though, I doubt that they're afraid of the media. After all, what was it, any publicity is good publicity? Look at the Grand Theft Auto series... that has to be one of the most criticized game franchises in existence, and the coverage has only helped to drive sales.

But yes, I would've liked to have seen more "same sex" relationships, even if the Asari might not count technically. But BioWare's statement about the reason for no M/M, basically saying although we're playing Shepard, he or she isn't really our character. Or as the dev put it, it's told from the third person, not the first person perspective. Which I personally think is a load of bull.

I think it comes down to marketing in a way, Mass Effect is now a franchise, what with two games, another on the way (three if you count that mobile game), novels, and comics. So they have to maintain a certain image for Shepard, as their leading man. (Yeah, leading man as you've seen all the promotional stuff features male Shepard.)

So no matter how much we may identify with our Shepards, ultimately he/she's not our character. A fact that is somewhat disappointing to large percentage of RPG fans.

/probably rambling now

The Australia comment was me indulging in wistful thinking. It'd be nice to have Bioware in AU because it's more accessible for me. I subscribe fully to "Atkinson is a cretin" theories.
