As said in title: What class specializations would you like to see newly implemented, or make a return, in the next game?

Mine are the following:

Warrior

  • Dual Warrior: loved this build in Origins, would like to see it return in DA4
  • Spearman/Lancer: a build that utilises polerarms, can throw them or use them to keep enemies at a distance
  • Brawler: a true warrior needs no weapon! This spec uses only its fists to beat their enemies into a bloody pulp

Mage

  • Primal: the combination of earth and lighting magic in DA2 was great, granting this spec both defense and attack capabilities. Attacks like Stone Fist and Chain Lighting made me feel like a god (which makes sense since the primal school is all about creation).
  • Bloodmage: who doesn't want to play as a walking taboo? I really can't understand why Bioware didn't allow this spec in Inquisition. You make such a big deal out of it in all three of your games, but we were only able to play as one in DA2 (and no one cared about the Champion being a Bloodmage).  EDIT: sorry, you were able to play as a Bloodmage in Origins as well.
  • Spirit Healer: now I know Bioware said they didn't want a designated healing class and all, but a lot of people do. Plus it doesn't make sense in the DA verse that mages don't have healing spells. I personally loved this spec in Origins and would like to see it return.
  • Shapeshifter: again, loved this in Origins. I don't understand why it wasn't implemented in the other games, it has so much potential.

Rogue

  • Bard: this was an unique support type spec in Origins that was a missed opportunity in Inquisition (since the Bard is an Orealsian thing and we had Liliana as an Adviser).
  • Ranger: an archer spec with high survivability and the unique ability to summon beasts to aid in combat

All Classes:

  • Allow each class to wear any armor type. I know this was allowed in Inquisition, but there was no point/advantage to it. Make it so that some specializations can benefit from it. For example: Since the Bard is a support type, it would benefit from wearing medium (mail) armor, or a Brawler would prefer light (leather) armor for improved flexibility and speed.
  • Get rid of/lessen the sluggishness of warriors and mages during combat. I don't know how many times one of my companions died because they didn't move out of the way of the Dragon's fire quick enough.
  • Allow mages to move whilst casting spells that have little to no cast time. Its frustrating not being able to move when you are just auto-attacking.
  • Allow players to designate points into their stats (like in Origins and DA2), don't auto-assign stats for us.

Dragon Mage- A legendary power of the Elven Gods to grant the ability to transform into a powerful yet fearsome dragon. A mage that possess the essence of a dragon by performing a dragon ritual by absorbing the dragon fire. The mage as an ability to breathe fire upon their enemies, amplified fire spells and shapeshift into a dragon.

Arcane Fist Mage- A mage that practiced the martial arts with imbued magic of fire, ice, and shock and they are known and feared for close combat in battle. Inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender

I do like the idea of martial arts in games. Don't know if it would be lore friendly in the Dragon Age universe though.

many martial arts use weapons including Kenjutsu of Japanese martial arts fame. If there was more a dedicated martial arts theme specialization, certain amount of flexiblity is a must in its design, for example, Daito Ryu Aikijutsu is a Japanese martial arts that was a bases for Aikido and it has several weapons from what I do understand.

Dreamer for mage- could be similar to sleep & horror combo from DA:O at the base and build it up from there.

Regarding Brawler- I thought Utha (in The Calling) was a pretty good idea of what that should look like. It has potential.

Would be kinda awesome to turn Lyrium tattoos like Fenris into a specialization for Warriors

Since its Tevinter anyway, I would like to see mages get a summoner specialization. Summoning demons could have some good uses. It also adds some randomness, since they could turn on you.

I agree that warriors should be able to use spears.

Rogues should be able to throw knives and darts.

But mainly I would like to see a new class completely.

I always wanted a Rogue spec that focused on speed and mobility.
Something like the Strider from Dragon's Dogma only with more of a focus around movement although I wouldn't say no to a skill akin to Implicate.

I forgot about the Horror skill branch. Yes a Dreamer spec would be an interesting addition.

This is either a Macedonian or Roman spearman (probably Macedonian based on the writing on the side). Looks great.

I would love a few specs back. Shadow, Duelist, Berserker, Battlemage... Those would be my first picks.

I always liked Isabela's Swashbuckler spec. Something like that for our character would be awesome.

Oh! And support mage based on ZITHER! from DAIMP *dreams*

Spirit warrior

Blood mage

Bard

By the way, I love the idea that you could only pick one specialization and each is very unique.

I agree. It also adds to the replay-ability of a game when there are lots of different specs to try out. You want combat to be fun and each class and spec to be a unique experience.

I want a couple of oldies back and better than ever: blood mage and shapeshifter. And I would like to shapeshift into something cool and extraordinary, not a gross spider or plain old wolf.

I'd like to get rid of Weapon skill trees, and instead make all skills usable with any weapon. Also, every class can equip any weapon (staffs are Mage only though). And I want SPEARS, FLAILS and RAPIERS.

Now, the specs I want:

WARRIOR:

- Berserker to make a comeback. Trades finesse for raw power.

- Spirit Warrior: Warriors who have dealings with the spirits of The Fade, granting them combat-based magic skills.

ROGUE:

- Duelist: kinda the anti-berserker. Trades raw strength for finesse (this is another spec I want to see again.

- Ranger

MAGE

- Arcane Warrior. Enough said.

- Blood Mage. Same as above.

Shapeshifter

Oh, and before I forget Shapeshifter.

For the rest:

Ranger-the beasts started off weak, but got scary good in Awakening. Plus, having Wolf Overwhelm at level 7 was awesome.

Bard and Song of Courage was excellent-I'l like to see both return in some form.

Not a specialization, but bring back the Dual Wield Warrior.

Spirit Warrior if you can moderate how powerful they were.

For mages, I want an improved shapeshifter spec and a blood magic spec based around summoning demons to do your bidding.

For warriors, I would like polearms to show up. I'd also like to see Fenris style lyrium tattoos appear as a spec.

I'm not sure about a spec, but could we give rogues a one handed sword style option, rapiers maybe?

I'm not sure whether the player should have only one spec, But each should be acquired through its own questline.

Oh boy, laundry list time here.

Mage: Harbinger Class - Melee mage with one ranged damage and one ranged taunt ability, Eldrich proc on crit that restores up to 50% health. Summons spirit blade but, it damages like the staff, no charge needed. Has good survivability and, can tank.

Necromancer that can summon a servitor (undead battle companion) at all times. Has one ability that robs health form the enemy and feeds it to his pet.

Elemetalist - primary pyo but with other elemnts available, summons elemental battle pet of choice.

Rogue: Bard as a true support class, not a DPS at all but has motifs that can inspire, buff and heal the rest of the party.

Tactician - relies heavily on traps and tactics rather than high DPS weapons.

Dancer: The ultra fast dual wield glass cannon in the truest sense, they have low survivability but, make up for it with high DPS blades and speed.

Warrior: Prmalist - moderate suvivability but, fights with an animal companion, like a large cat or Mabari. Great at controll and drawing aggro but needs pet for damage or he take it all and dies quickly.

Cleric: Justicar, primaritly a healer but, has spells like withering vine that sap health form enemies and give it to the party.

Druid: -summons mythical, fae comanions one for damage or one to heal the party. Is mostly a tank but the pets provide moderate damage or healing.

Law Bringer - brings the forces of life and death to bear on enemies, using them to cause pain, damage and, heal the Druid. He writes the laws of life an death for enemies.

Edlrich Ally: Melee, single target DPS cleric that supplements weapon use with a few spells.

Or just steal the full soul trees form Rift and be done with it. Now that would make DA games amazing.

Come on! How can they say no to this?! They can just make up a story of elven apostates who abandoned the circle and they embark on a spiritual journey and they adapted spirituality with magic so they use meditation and they create martial arts as a form of spiritual growth and healing the Veil, the land, and themselves. But they put it to use for combat for fending off the barbarians to save the Dalish Elves and the Dalish thanked the mages for saving their tribe.

Lots of people have been advocating for a Swashbuckler/Musketeer type specialization for rogues.

Rogue -> Dancer - Inspirer/buffer/debuffer like bard but with emphasis on dancing instead of singing, also combat wise an evasion based combatant

Warrior -> Templar/Seeker based monk/brawler/kung-fu-fighter, PUNCH A BEAR!11!

Mage -> a mage specialized in bringing fade constructs into life for a short time (enough to perform the attack) like a huge spear, a strangling chain or a spiraling blades
