Yes. Zevran from DAO can be romanced by males, same for Anders and Fenris from DA2 and for Dorian and The Iron Bull from DAI.

Leliana (DAO), Merrill & Isabela (DA2) and Josephine & Sera (DAI) can be romanced by female characters.

Thanks. So there are gay romance in each game. Didn't know DA has gay romance in every game. It seems so progressive. Is the gameplay similar to Skyrim? I like that game. Should I play the previous 2 games before starting Inquisition or can I just jump in? Would I miss out anything important by not importing? Is there any game branching like Witcher 2?

well I like dark souls. And the mass effect games. I've played god of war and loved it along with some gears of war and infamous.

I love batman games too.

I think you might like DA2 and DAI more than DAO when it comes to the combat system. I'd recommend you try them all at least once though, just to be sure. Maybe watch some gameplays on YouTube...?

I'd usually recommend starting with DAO, but if you're not familiar with Bioware's older style and more used to action combat, it may put you off, and it's starting to look a little old. Instead, start with DAI, and if you like the world and its lore and the characters (rather than just liking it as a game), you can try to play a complete sequence of DAO/DA2/DAI after that.

There's also nothing wrong with skipping the older games and enter the franchise with DAI. You'll have a less complete experience, but the stories of the three games are only loosely connected, even though they are direct sequels in the history of Thedas' Dragon Age. In that case, I'd recommend reading up on the stories of the earlier games.

I see, sound interesting, may check it out. How's the protagonists compared to Shepard? Is it black and white like Mass Effect like with Paragon and Renegade choices? The game sounds interesting, it seems like it won the most Games of the Year awards during the year it releases, so it could be interesting. Which race would be best to start DAI anyway?

Well, you'd miss out on some big reveals but I'd personally say that playing the first 2 games of the series is not as important as it'd be if you wanted to play, say, Mass Effect 3.

You can use the Dragon Age Keep website (https://dragonagekee...S/account-check) to get a quick summary of what happened in the first 2 games (just login, get to the Tapestry, click on the world symbol in the upper-right corner and click on the "Play" button). You can also change the choices you did in DAO and DA2 by using this website, but I wouldn't recommend you do so if you haven't played the other 2 games first (in other words: stick to the default World State).

I'm not a fan of Shepard (I call him StupidShep). I think all of DA's protagonists compare favorably with Shepard in intelligence (not that this is hard), and in the dialogue options available to roleplay them. Every DA game is a better roleplaying game than any ME game, but DA2 comes closer to the ME games than the others. As Sylvius the Mad said on the previous page (read his post), DAI's protagonist has more neutral lines, which is good for roleplaying since it makes it more feasible to mix responses according to your character's opinion on a matter (in DA2, that would make you come across as schizophrenic, since responses were tied to a main personality type), but the less intense emotional expression (with notable exceptions) is something not liked by all players.

Race selection is highly subjective. The story is geared towards a human protagonist. The writers made some effort to make a non-human plausible and even gave them some unique lines, but it's still recognizeable that it was originally written for a human. In terms of combat, it doesn't matter. You may want to try a female elf, though, for reasons I won't spoil here. Arguably a female elf can have the closest emotional connection to the story in the end, even though you won't notice that for large parts of what comes before.

There is no "moral-meter" in DA, and to know how your actions are viewed by others, ask them. There is a relationship-meter for each companion which is influenced by your actions, in general and towards that character, but that won't affect anything but your relationship. Different companions will react differently to your actions, and some decisions may lose you a companion.

Thanks. I'll check it out. What about customization and armors? My Shepard looks ugly in every single game and not as detail as the default one. Are they using the same engine? I hope I have a lot of hood and robes for mages and more cool armors for the guys. Are the armors look cool? I hope the hair is at least better than ME series, it has so little variation.

There's no Paragon/Renegade system. Instead, every choice you make has its pros and cons, and there's no "good" or "bad" choices.

Your companions may approve or disapprove of your actions depending on their view of the matter at hand. If companions disapprove too much, they may leave you.

If I'm not mistaken, elven mages get more dialogue options than other races and classes, but some say that for a newcomer it might be best if you did your first playthrough with a human, as you might not understand some of the lore references the elves do. I, however, think that you should choose exclusively based on what backstory intrigues you the most.

DAI has much more customization than every other BioWare game (except for hairstyles, lol). DAI is using the Frostbite 3 engine, unlike DAO & DA2 which used the Eclipse engine and the Mass Effect series that used the Unreal engine. If you play on low settings/old gen consoles, the game doesn't look that good though.

I like armors in DAI, but I've heard some who don't. There are many more armour customization options when compared to Mass Effect 3, I think.

It should be noted that if you get the GOTY edition of the game, which includes the Deluxe Edition, The Descent, Trespasser, Spoils Of The Qunari and Spoils of The Avvar DLCs (and also the Jaws Of Hakkon DLC, but IIRC this one doesn't add any new armours to the game), there'll be more armours available from the start.

One more thing: you should get the three storyline DLCs (The Descent, Jaws of Hakkon and Trespasser). They are better than the main game in the areas they focus on (Descent: combat-intensive dungeon crawl / exploration, Jaws of Hakkon: exploration, story and lore, Trespasser: story and lore) and avoid what is largely regarded as DAI's biggest flaw: low density of meaningful content on many of the open-world maps.

As a Dragon Age Origins fan I think it's great.  It might start slow but it really grows on you.  You can program your companions to do stuff.  What stuff I don't remember exactly. :D

I always say DA2 is a good game since some people say it's bad.  The Combat is about the same as DAO which is great in my opinion.

DAI:  I don't want to say bad things about a game but I would get it on a sale. :)

I want to try dragon age

Then why don't you try Dragon Age what's keeping you from trying ?

It's a Bioware game so that means it's good ( very good ) right.

PC version of DAO is superior because of mods and real tactics, which can be expanded upon with mods. Also, the complaints about the combat speed present in DAO can be rectified with mods.

I would suggest playing them all so you have more of the story. If you like reading, I suggest you read the novels as well. They provide even more story. As for the games, play them in order of course. Dragon Age Origins, then Dragon Age Origins:Awakening, then Dragon Age 2 plus DLCs, and then Dragon Age Inquisition plus DLCs. It's hard to tell you what you'll like, but most that play Origins enjoy it. If you like Origins you'll like the others.

Specifically, don't sit your butt in the Hinterlands for too long. :D

I found DAO the most fun, story wise, DA2 the most fun, mission wise, and DAI best looking and the best to play, movement wise.

If you get Origins, I'd heavily recommend you Get the Ultimate Edition.  It comes with all the DLCs.

Also, I'd start with the DLC Leliana's Song (Chronologically, it predates the Origins story by a good 3-5 years). Except for Darkspawn Chronicles, All other DLCs happen During or After Origins, ending With Witch Hunt.

It tells a good story, and it has a real party by Leliana's terms:  Someone's Smallclothes get nailed to the Chantry board. (she references this joke in Inquisition, too).  Also, it will tell you if you will like Origins combat/controls/looks enough to do the main story.

As for Characters, here's my main canon:

Origins: ELyndra Cousland, Female Human Warrior, Romanced Alistair.  Married him off-screen.

DA2: Maria Hawke, Human Mage (Spirit Healer).  Romanced Anders.  Still with him.

Inquisition:  Talsaar Adaar ("Truly Dangerous Weapon") Rift Mage.  Romances the Iron Bull.

Origins = Good

Dragon Age II = Garbage

Dragon Age: Inquisition = Not bad for a console game. GOTY for 20 bucks = Really good.

Start them all from 1st to last

If you do, you'll have a blast

Origins is the 1st to try

Though old of graphics

The cake isn't a lie

Next delve into DA2

I really like like it

Some think it's poo

Inquisition is next on the list

Some find it confusing

But some get the gist

All in all time and money well spent

People that don't like it?  Ya'll can get bent.

This is genius. :D B)

I'm just gonna echo a lot of others but hey, why not.

I'm still playing Inquisition, but having done them in order I would definitely recommend doing so, as the story carries through and it makes much more sense if you do. If nothing else, you should play Origins first before Inquisition.

Of the 3, you *could* get away without playing DAII, as it's probably the most encapsulated of them all, HOWEVER - you will need to catch up with the story and characters otherwise some bits of Inquisition will have have you scratching your head as they won't make sense.

A lot of people will tell you DAII is rubbish - a conclusion that I fundamentally disagree with; but you should make your own mind up. It's Very Different from the other 2, almost like a Visual Novel in parts - (not a bad thing) - and somewhat the result of "Pressure to Publish A Follow Up" - which is a great shame because actually it's a really good-looking game with a great story and characters, and decent gameplay. It's just let down by feeling a bit rushed in some aspects. Bioware wanted to try something different and they were, in my view, very close to pulling it off.

I thought it had a great, slightly melancholy feel to it as well - (although the same could be said for every game in the series, in fairness).

Anyway: play them in order, that's the best bet for the full experience. B)
