My ultra rares:
Talon x
Scorpion iv
Paladin iii
Hurricane viii
Collector smg iv
Which weapon combo is best?
Acolyte + hurricane
Acolyte + collector smg
Talon + hurricane
Talon + collector smg
Talon by itself
I would also greatly appreciate any advice on weapon mods and equipment.

I don't have a lot of experience with Batarians but from the list the Talon wins hands down.
But the Talon is still better than either of em. Or any of em. It's just better at everything than everything else. It's the thing everything else is trying to be better than. It's even better than this argument I'm making about why it's better. It's that better.
People keep romanticizing the Lancer, or overcompensating with Claymore, but the Talon beats em all.

My preferred tactic with batguards is with the acolyte + incendiary ammo. I just hold the trigger down and keep it down. Pointing it at an enemy and biotic charging automatically fires the weapon, the bomb hits the enemy first, priming it, and the BC detonates an FE. Then if your cooldown is 200%, immediately targeting an enemy for a falcon punch fires the acolyte again and delivers the punch.
I take the hurricane/recoil/HVB to deal with bosses. It's so good, it can get boring. It works with all vanguards.
Just remember if you load up a missile to take let up on the acolyte trigger first. I've wasted a lot of rockets by forgetting that.

As for weapons to try
Falcon with omni blade
Eagle with stunner
Scorpion is quite fun
Krysae can make for easy ammo combos
The usual talon and hurricane work well as they do on all kits. There isn't a kit in the game that isn't made more effective with those 2 weapons.
I would highly recommend trying out a build that mixes in lash with 4 in blade armor and 4 in passives. The ability to set up your own detonations makes the kit even more versatile and fun

I take nothing with me, but medi-gel transmitter and I still top the scoreboard. Take Avenger, I hear it's deadly on full-auto.

I would recommend the acolyte hurricane combo from my experience but a lot of people here seem to be swearing by the Talon, so try both and see what works for you.
Ideally though to stay true to the batarian spirit, the best weapon would be a swatter!

Acolyte Hurricane is dirty. However, it does involve using favoured gun of strippers and racist humans everywhere.
Talon is preferable because it's a one-hand shotgun, and that sounds Batarian as hell, even if it was made by really racist humans.

True it might be dirty but it's also dirty efficient. As for the talons racist background, I'm sure the batarians consider that a plus.

I really don't like the Talon, however, it probably is the best choice.
Personally, I'd just use a different character until I got enough amps.

Talon X. Which is a lightweight shotgun that don't use shotgun Amps. Vanguard range aka Point blank you can't go wrong with Talon.

Raider without shotgun amps.
This. With Incendiary.
Also take the 6a evo on Charge to have a chance to Charge multiple times in a row, because Charge is the only reliable detonator you have and Batarian Brawler with Blade Armor and Fitness is tanky enough to survive even with 50% shields if the cooldown does trigger.
So the tactic is this: Charge --> if the cooldown doesn't trigger --> shoot and Charge again --> repeat ad nauseam. If the cooldown does trigger and you're in a pickle taking damage, just heavy melee for massive damage reduction (75% I think) and since the melee is so long, the CD on Charge will be over by the time it finishes. So Charge again and go to step 1.

Charge -> heavy melee makes you invulnerable to damage if you have blade armor on, so, yeah.

Shotgun Omniblade. You may use the Raider for maximum batarianness or the Piranha for better cooldowns as holders. You don't need shotgun amps, but Strength enhancers.
Seriously though, Talon Heavy Barrel, AP mod, and Incendiary ammo would be a good option too.
