The Talon is excellent for Vanguards, for vanguards with good power damage like the smashguard or the cabal I usually use the power magnifier. For the Batguard/Kroguard I use the heavy barrel and piercing mod.

I wouldn't use the arc pistol on a Vanguard (the Cabal is an exception) due to that the charging mechanism don't synergize to great with BC, charge + Talon to the face point blank is more effective (and fun).

Agreed. If the Arc pistol globally dominates the Talon, the later is clearly better for vanguards. A mini-shotgun with 4 bullets in the mag that let you at 200% recharge speed is almost too good to be true.

If I recall the Talon was my favoured weapon as well.  I think I also used the Pirhana a fair bit as well.

 

For sure one of the most fun classes to play imo, melee faclon skating is groovy.

Pretty much my all-time favorite kit. Easily swap out the weapons for just a Talon, as has been stated. Though playing this on Plat as a melee build is risky due to sync-kill galore.

Talon, Talon, Talon is what i'v read but depending on your skill level & enemy you can just put on the corresponding ammo w/ head shot adds and aim for the face with the mighty Paladin. The math is there, just have to do it. Don't fall into the common, for skills don't grow from it.

Those 0.0033 seconds is the meaning of life and death. Reegar without SG amps sucks. And why does it even take shotgun amps if it's a carbine? Stupid Quarians, making everything backwards. First they create Geth, can't even shut the bloody things down, then they create Reegar to fight the Toasters, call  it a Carbine.

I'm learning to use the no lash batguard and I hope to take him to platinum eventually. Also, I'm out of shotgun amps so I need to get used to using other weapons.

Why are you worried about shotgun damage? Youre supposed to trash anything that moves with your fist of h8. Buuut if you wanna go for weapon damage, you can never go wrong with a Talon.

The talon's bonus to protections and the slot for the power booster make it the equal to the best shotguns imo. For vanguards.

 

The bonus is just to shields and barriers, and as such I think it really only matters all that much against Cerberus and Collectors to an extent.  Geth have a lot of shields, but the lower pellet count and lower base damage don't do it any favors against their small heads given that no Vanguard gets an accuracy bonus.

 

It is a fine weapon, but I don't think it is nearly as good as Wraith across most factions.  Venom is pretty much mook-bane without the headache of aiming.
