Kim Stolz,

Thanks for the interest in are problem. I have done everything from mess with my controls to leaving them default. On the issue i have noticed i can get the most play time if i turn off subtitles, auto save, and all internet connections. I have also noticed if you let the game hang idle, the problem seems to always appear.

If you have any other questions i will be happy to comply.

I also have the same radar glitch. My wife got so annoyed with it she made me turn off the sound effects. Is there a way to turn the radar OFF entirely? I rarely use it.

I have this same issue and it makes me unable to play the game since the sound kickstarts my migraines.

If anyone has some fix other then to turn off all sound effects i would be very grateful...

The radar glitch is back. Started early in a new playthrough. I haven't changed any of the key settings.

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512

driver: 196.21 (installed before starting current playthrough)

I was having this issue before I updated the NVIDIA driver. The driver update did not appear to do anything for the problem. I'm going to reboot the computer and hope it stops for a while.

I can control the sound temporarily by holding down the map button "M" but it still comes back.

Here is my Mass Effect Config report if it helps. I still have the radar beeping problem.

Yes, this has been annoying me for awhile now. I thought it was normal but it has gotten very aggravating. I assumed that it was doing something useful and I just hadn't read the manual to see what it was. But I can't even walk through the Normandy without thing going off constantly.

I have everything default, haven't adjusted a single setting. I also don't have any other problems with the game outside of the occasional no-clip failure from time to time.

Please tell me this is a bug and that it can be fixed!

@ Third_Miles: That's just great information thanks. If evryone having this problem could look at that and see if there's a link between that and yourselves we might be able to figure this out faster. However as a temporary fix try binding the radar button to nothing. Either select radar and map it to the same key and that will unmap it or map it to the "delete" key and that should unmap it as well. That should work as a stop gap until we figure out the overarching problem. Thanks guys.

They are. But not everybody in the company goes on the message boards so I'm here relaying messages. The reason I'm not saying "Patch pending" is because noone in the building has ever seen this problem. We are trying to figure it out though. As soon as they know what's causing it they'll tell me and I'll tell you. Thanks to everyone who's being patient. More info soon as I have it.

Hey Kim, a lot of us are having trouble with ME2 crashing during gameplay or on start up. Here are some links to threads containing these issues. social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/106/index/830507

Zulu21: This thread is for "Radar keeps beeping" Dont hyjack our thread.

http://l-userpic.liv.../63508219/45236
Good news everyone.

Well hopefully it could be good news. (note: I wasn't able to play ME2 for more than an hour and a half. today) But I was able to play the game with out the insane beeping. This is what i did:

Step 1. After opening Mass Effect 2, alt tab back to windows and control alt delete to pull up the task manager.

Step 2. Right click on the mass effect 2 process, select "Set Affinity"

Step 3. Uncheck one of the two processors listed, in order to tell the process to use a single core of your processor. Hit OK.

Step 4. Then, right click and select 'Set Affinity...' again. Reselect all the CPU cores, putting it back to the way it was when you first edited the affinity.

Source: http://www.reddit.co..._on_pc_and_are/

I know that the fix was to help with loading times but i have notice that each of us have a simlar AMD Processors.
I have nothing to do tomorrow, so i could try and test this solution for a longer period of time. I really hope this helps, cause i too find this glitch to be the most horrible thing ever!

If this doesnt fix the issue,  I have also noticed that we all have nivida graphic cards.

Thanks fisheggs. That's good stuff. One of our tech guys has actually looked at your setups and has built a PC to match so we should be able to figure out the problem soon. Thanks to everyone who put up your information.

Any of you have a joystick/gamepad installed?

If so try temporalily disabling it in control panel and the appropriate icon(don't know the name in english, input devices, game controllers maybe?).

the problem is, you've made an amazing game. It just makes these potentially GFX damaging bugs that much harder to swallow. I should proberly wait for a patch before I continue but I need to complete this!!

Thanks for knocking about on the forums its great to know that our problems are being heard.

Damn, well resetting the dual core, allowed me to play for about 4 hours. They radar beep did in fact come back. :-(

I have no clue what is causing this.
