Ever since i brought this problem to light i been messing round trying to find a solution, i found a huge gap that stops the radar beeping for ages. I played the whole game through almost radar beep free, minus a few occasions, but the most part i had a very good run.
Its was really simple i made myself a charcter and the radar kept beeping, but due to the fact i hated that class i made a second character aka a second profile for my adventure, I found when you make a second character and play it radar beep a whole lot less though the game. Now i not sure if its just my come, loads of ranodm dumb luck on my part or something else but it worked for me. SO i tested this solution futher and found anytime you make an odd number character (like your first character or your third or fifth so on) the radar beep like it normally does, but making an even numbered character (like 2nd or fourth) the radar doesnt beep no where near as much.
My conclusion is this making an even numbered character and combining it with other anti radar beeping trick = a very good run of the game with hardly any beeping radar.

I installed a lot of Windows updates (I am running XP Professional SP3) and the beeping seemed to be minimized.

Dunno if it has anything to do with it, but it's a hell of a coincidence.

I saw the mention that we all seem to be using AMD Athlon 64s and remembered a fix I used for a previous game that I hadn't reinstalled when I reloaded Windows. AMD released a small patch they call the AMD Dual Core Optimizer, after I installed that the radar bug went away and performace went back to what it had been before I had to reinstall. So if you're using a dual core AMD chip, you might want to give this a try.
You can get it here.

Has anyone tried the AMD Dual Core Optimizer and still gotten this spastic radar bug? Or does this work for everyone? It's probably a good idea for dual core AMD chip owners to install this even if it doesn't help with this bug. I've run across other game bugs that get helped by this.

As stated, downloading the AMD Dual Core Optimizer fixes the problem...at least for me it did. Many hours of playing beep-free.

I had been playing since launch with no problems. But the other day I had to reinstall Windows because of some other issues. I just loaded up ME2 again and started getting this radar issue, gameplay was also a bit laggy.
