You are evil. An evil, evil, Penguin.

Also, make sure it is on PS3, where the netcode and hardware is even worse.

Of course. What else would I do? :P

Also Collectors. Has to be Collectors.

I wonder which will happen first... we all die, everyone rage quits or everyone freezes (except for me obviously because I'm apparently immune to such things). It will be an interesting start to Pugging Hell - a BSN documentary narrated by David Attenborough.

unless we're all turning into solo addicts, 75% of us have to play off host.

In an ideal world hosts would alternate.

We don't live in an ideal world.

and you get used to see your warp set off into infinity .

Dead rocket troopers still shooting at you, you never get used to.

i only quit when i see teleportation, because like telepathy we know there is really no such thing.

( i also rage quit for other reasons).

I only notice 2 differences when playing on or off host .....   when playing on-host, your powers have a smaller arch and hit faster..i.e.  warp, incinerate.......also while playing on-host..you actually feel the damage you are taking....i.e. controller feedback is much stronger and you can more accurately tell from which direction the fire / damage is coming from....... also, I only play vanguards on-host ( cept for cabal )  cuz I hate hitting the charge button 7 times and nothing ever happens...for example.. ( shields down )  " Okay, finds target,  charge ( nope) hits charge again ( nope) please god, charge I'm about to die." . (LOL Nope..you chose to be an off-host vanguard..., I hope you brought ketchup cuz you are going to be eating alot of floor... :) ... maybe an exception is the smashguard with bonus power specd.

QFT. My single most horrifying/embarrassing moment in all my games happened when I was accidentally hosting, which as I said earlier is a very rare occurrence for me. QMR honoured me by joining in as a Krogan on Giant Hazard, along with Mordokai and a random other who was in on the theme. For Tuchanka and all that. Mordo was drunk, and QMR was using MC Hammer, possibly for the first time. Everything was going riotously well until wave 9, which I was left to clutch, but got synced at the bottom of the back ramp.   Now, I know it's human nature to deny responsibility following a major derp, but I swear there was more to it than my scrubbery, and can still recall the little visual glitch and loss of frames before I got grabbed.

QMR's one word message simply read, "Unacceptable" as we were heading back to the lobby, and felt worse than a kick in the quads. We took revenge in the next game, but it still hurts.

I totally understand you, brother. Every time I host and I get lag and everything gets all fucked up, everyone thinks I'm just making excuses for my scrubbery. Which, if they knew more about me, they'd know I'd just take pride in that B)

... If only it was scrubbery. But it's lag. So I don't take pride, and I just rage.

NUKE ALL DA THINGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

The worst part is when the button starts beeping at you after pressing it a few times like "Yes? You're expecting me to do something here, are you?". Just blame the stupid biotic ******* for being unpredictable, nothing like tech.

So, nobody else notices a problem with Snipers and accurate, slow-firing weapons like the Saber?

How can any of you stand playing that way? Are you secretly masochists?

Well, I can't behead stuff when I play on host as batglove krentinel. This is reason enough for me :D

Snipers yes. Sabre no. When I use a sniper only one in three shots actually hits the target instead of a random invisible air barrier. It's an L2Lag issue.

1300 hours of mp and the only times I hosted was when friends asked, which was pretty rare. I mostly played off host in pug land. I guess it added some extra variety to the games when you never knew what kind of connection you were going to play on.

I'm mostly frustrated those times when the lag hits so badly that either

a) I get killed by magic hands or enemies who didn't even exist in my perimeter, or especially

b ) when I fail to save some teammate's life because of my powers or bullets are just disappearing in thin air like a fart in Sahara (An old Finnish proverb).

Not that I enjoy lag in any way, but often just grin and bear it, or in some cases it's just best to laugh in despair when see people rubberbanding. Mainly it just aggravates when you yourself are left feeling helpless.

My bullet spray is often random anyway, lag or no lag. ;)

Oh yes, and offhost I can kill phantoms, they deserve all the beheadings they get.

Earlier when I started by playing Big Juggs only, even a slight lag was noticeable when it hindered my siegefest.

My bullet spray is often random anyway, lag or no lag. ;) What, Sabre is accurate?? LoLme

That bad huh ?

Honestly, when host has a solid connection, playing off host has almost no impact on my gameplay, a few glitches here and there but really nothing much. Had about 4 games with someone from Florida yesterday (I'm in France). Almsot forgot I wasn't hosting, one or two lag spikes, 30 secs of Annihilation Field bugging and one Ops pack I used but still died, that's pretty much everything that went wrong.

It probably helps that my connection is okay too.

This.

Sure do.

Saber relies on quickly dispatching a target with a headshot and moving on to the next one. If I have to throw 4 rounds at a target before my first connects, that's time and ammo I could've spent on other targets. You get used to dealing with it though.

Quick edit: You HAVE to shoot until dead on laggy hosts because if you click an enemy's head once and move on to other targets, confident that after lag wears out said enemy's head would pop, the game might go herp derp and decide to register it as a body shot for some bizzare reason.

Might be because on the host's screen the target moved slightly while on your screen it didn't.

Depends of a character. Playing a vanguard off-host gave me grey hair and my Siege pulse spamming Juggy was intolerable thanks to the delay. The delay in siege pulse was noticeable even when my friend, who lives in the same country and has a good connection, hosted.

Generally I prefer to host and mostly do so when I play. When I go off-host, I just pick.... safer characters =P.

Then again... playing off-host sometimes gives you comedy like this. Instead of leaving like any sensible person I opted to stay and play like ****. Maybe I really am bit of a masochist.

That's pretty much exactly what I mean. Good to know I am not crazy. (Though, if I was laggy enough that the game had to resync more than once a wave, I'd probably just quit).

There are many things I find overrated (Vanguards, The Graal, to name a few) because I rarely host

and a recent game where I had serious lag problems quit then searched again and got sent to the same match yet everything was fine was odd (same host)

I miss playing regularly, because it meant that I could witness the hilarious the old off host lag out glitch where someone would sprint into the wall for all eternity.

Boo this man! It's like a Valiant with more shots an not forcing you to trollscope on swarmers!

Maybe I should just stick to shotguns and the Revenant (Don't hate me, I like the sound of it.*) when off-host.

*: There is no Dakka in the game better than the Revenant. The Claymoar has more boom, yes. And the Typhoon does more damage, but it doesn't sound as sweet as the Revenant.
