Indoctrination theory made all the sense in the world for ME3 (much more than the star child-space magic-rgb BS anyways) and yet they didn't take it, because they're too frigging proud. Their pride is their doom.

That's why they refused to make a canon ending too.

But, at this point honestly, **** it. **** the milky way and **** Shepard. **** the trilogy.

Let's see how good Andromeda does in the new game.

Or because they thought it sucks and people hate it.

There are a FEW things in fiction that annoy me more than "It was all a dream~!" but not many.

Also, no matter what you choose, Shepard defeats the Reapers. Bioware tells you flatout at the end of the game (much better than the "buy DLC" slide argh that was terrible). So you can't be indoctrinated and all the choices are right. And we're off to a shiny new galaxy where hopefully we never hear from the Milky Way or deal with Schrodinger's Rachni again.

I think I have underestimated how frustrated some people still are about this.

And the closer the game gets, the more people start showing up to voice that frustration.

What happened in ME3 really happened. It was that bad. While indoctrination sounds cool the writers were not smart enough to come up with it. We just need to let it go...man.

This is the best bit.

It was such a mess and made so little sense it almost accidentally became the greatest plot twist ever written in video gaming.

Because there was no way anyone who knew anything about Mass Effect could think this belonged in the game.

So a couple million people who bought the game actually thought there was a good chance they were joking about it.

And that they'd release the real ending soon....

I'm glad that's over with.

Dreams in Bioware games are weird things.

AND NEVER just dreams.

This has all happened before and this will all happen again.

I remember when the ending of BSG caused the same uproar.

Just wait til GoT botches the ending so badly that Martin OD's on booze, hookers, blo, and reruns of The Twilight Zone.

Indoctrination was a weapon of the Reapers. The Reapers are not a part of this new story. Therefore, indoctrination will have no role in MEA.

My goodness will the indoctrination theory die with Shep already. Look either just come to terms with everything was the starbrat's doing and that there was no indoctrination involved; everything that is, was. Or just tell yourself Shepard trilogy never happened and begin on a clean slate with Andromeda.

*downs a Full Biotic Kick*

Please, please, just let the Mass Effect 3 ending go. It's been nearly 4+ years now.

Mass Effect Andromeda shouldn't have to suffer this bull. Nor should any article or YouTube video remotely concerning Mass Effect be pegged with nerdrage over the ending now.

The ending was bad. We had all of 2012 and 2013 to be angry about it. Now please just stop.

Personally, I will always be at peace with this being the ending to the trilogy...

Well I believe the devs have already put IT to bed so unless they backpedal it will not be in Andromeda or future ME games...though I could see some sort of X-Files like skit on galactic conspiracies.

Dont get me wrong the evidence is pretty overwhelming for the indoctrination theory but ffs can we please move on from it.

We have the chance to relive the series in a new light in a different galaxy where we can "start fresh" (pun intended) and not be haunted by the horrible ending to ME3.

Please please please can we just move on...

Or because they thought it sucks and people hate it.

So it sucked more than the garbage we got officially as an ending? It's not perfect, that's clear, but at least it explains a lot of things in a plausible manner. The oficial endings are a joke in comparison.

I know it's a fan made theory thus non canon. But hand to hand, it's way better than BW endings.

And jesus christ with all the asterisks in my previous comment. Looks like I'm shouting left and right, thanks mods :D

That's the great thing about IT. It's so awful, and so obviously not going to happen, that it's fun to hate.

Well, that's the thing. Even if you don't think IT sucks and people hate it, that doesn't mean that Bio doesn't think that IT sucks and people hate it.

The only potential reference to IT that will likely exist in ME:A is BioWare poking fun at the insistence that people have about this thing despite it having been settled years ago.

At this point it might as well be our own version of "Half-Life 3 confirmed".

It's plausible - if you buy into the idea of Bioware creating a version of ME3 where the player doesn't actually get to have a final conflict with TIM or the Reapers.  Personally, from a design stand-point, I think that's even worse than the current endings as written, but that's just me.

Here's another alternate theory... 50,000 years after Saren's attack on the Citadel, Shepard wakes up on the ARK.  The last thing he/she remembers is the Normandy blowing up.

ETA:  As for the rest of ME2 and all of ME3... the clone(s) did it.
