Interesting. My views though, **** polyamory.

Haha! Well... I think it maybe has a bad reputation partially due to many people identify as "poly" but then it's pretty clear they maintain fairly clearly monogamous relationships or as I say hierarchies and such, thus lending a sense of disingenuous that makes most people find unappealing....

Basically, if they react to you negatively for that opinion they probably aren't being totally sincere about it, or at least should come up with a sort of term that describes these middle categories....

Interesting. My views though, **** polyamory. That's not my thing. Being close to someone intimately and the learning that person is betraying you by givin it to someone not you. It's tough to fathom.

Well said.

I just don't agree with cheating on your partner with someone else. It's immoral to me.

Welllll you guys aren't at all alone.... there are lots of people that feel the same way. In fact, I would rather applaud at least your honesty... it's an era of conformity due random faux-progressiveness and SJism without actually believing it.

Well it would only be possible if both people agreed on that same sort of situation, no one should impose that view on someone else.. as I say, I believe it is a natural evolution.... but it's not beneficial for people who don't desire it to like "try" and be that way.

Not only inmoral, the thought of somebody else banging my love... would fill me with rage, disgust and disappointment.

Not going to tell adults what to do with their lives, but it's definetly not for me.

You describe a fairly basic cheating, not polyamory. Polyamory is the practice of, or desire for, intimate relationships involving more than two people, with the knowledge and consent of everyone involved. So no, you won't find that someone close to you intimately will one day just reveal that s/he has multiple lovers. You won't be able to enter relationship with that person in the first place if that's not your thing.

It's a kink and a lifestyle choice, just like BDSM. It doesn't belong in something like Mass Effect (or Dragon Age).

Not that it doesn't belong per se, but it's just that it's not necessary and hard to implement. Bioware did think about adding polyamory relationship in the game like you joining an existing couple, but it would be very hard to implement. Plus, it doesn't really give a representation to any group, but more like representation for a lifestyle choice. It's not a necessity, but if the did include it, it would just be because the characters are happened to do it like Iron Bull with BDSM. Something I wish they didn't include since it make the relationship to be very one-sided and presumptuous, Iron Bull knows what you want, Iron Bull takes control. It's basically take away the imagination and seem like a relationship based on domination. At least for me. It may or may not have impact the romance where it's basically pretty jokey.

Bioware considered including polyamory and they didn't considered making a single non-stereotyped gay character in DA? **** me.

I remember the bygone days of Jade Empire, when Dawn Star demanded my character chose between her and Silk Fox (even though my character had shown no interest in the former, but that's a different matter entirely) and the option was given to choose both. I chuckled and passed it by because I figured, yeah, right.

Wouldn't you know.

I still think it was silly, so I'm not sure I'd like a repeat of that, even if it was feasible.

Personally I DON'T think these sort of kinks belong in the games, mostly because they are already splintering our choices by making love interests who only accept male PCs or female PCs, and in some cases, only certain races. If there were more opportunities for genuine romance (instead of having to figure out or force yourself to play a certain type of character you don't identify with or enjoy playing just so you can romance a particular character) then okay, maybe. Like if there were six love interests and all were open to any PCs, then fine, make one into BDSM and one into polyamory (I guess technically you have to make two of them into polyamory).

But when choice is very limited, and romance isn't supposed to be that big of an aspect in the games anyway, I think giving us all similar basic romance choices (maybe each PC gets a "cool and badass" romance and a "gentle and sweet" romance) is the best way to go.

No kinks, alternative lifestyles, etc. Just romance, same as everyone else.

I agree, kinks have no place in story-driven games (nor in any game for that matter). This things should be left to fanfiction.

Wasn't polyamory already included in the last games?

I remember that it was possible to romance Liara and Miranda in ME2 if you romanced Liara in ME1, since you could continue this relationship within the Shadowbroker DLC.

Also: You could do kinky stuff with Miranda in ME3 when meeting here again for the first time and then continue to go for Liara in the end.

Both of them knew of each other and I don't remember having to ensure monogamy. Isn't this exactly what polyamory is about?

EDIT: I am not so sure if that parallel romance was a thing in ME2 anymore, but it was definitely possible in ME3

No, Liara will get angry if you locked in with Miranda, and if you stay with Miranda in ME2 and gets with Liara, Miranda will be killed in action while you get with Liara. Basically, you can never get both romances at the same time.

Who says they didn't consider it?

I'm not sure what stereotype Sera fits. Chav, maybe, but that isn't a gay thing.

I don't think people really into BDSM or poly like things really play ME that much anyway... it's mainly an LGBT focused company so they should.. probably stick to that.

Maybe like people who view BDSM in terms of hard S&M or as a generic command/control sort of discipline thing or something, which is, you know, one way to view it... not so much.. physical control transferrence.

When Bioware makes gay characters like Blackwall (to name an example of a manly guy) in DA then and only then I will consider them "progressive".

Err, the Iron Bull wasn't stoic enough for you?

Iron Bull is an omni-sexual into some disgusting ****... **** him.

And keep in mind I don't want nor need gay LIs, if for example the only LIs in DAO were Morrigan and Alistair (they were the only worthwhile ones anyway) and Riordan, an NPC, was gay I'd be perfectly cool with it. The thing is, no negative/humiliating stereotypes.
