I was wondering if any one else worries that this may well muddy the waters for the launch of MEA. You know space age soldiers. In a self contained war ship. Travelling the galaxy. Fighting bad guys with future tech. With air and space battles to boot. As it id due late this year Novemberish, Covering a similar kind of theme (as sci fi can be similar) Just wondering what imact this may have making MEA look kind of like jumping on the band wagon in the public perception. Yes I get MEA was started first but most will not.

One would have to be ignorant to assume MEA is jumping on the bandwagon and not the other way around but then again people are pretty ignorant.

People who are on here may know to well how long MEA has been in production. BUT how may average kids on the block will just assume the first launched was the one being ripped off. I assume many here have been around for the waves off games that seem to appear regularly and begger up the market.. IE the hundred Vietnam games in one year. The similar problem with WW2 games etc etc.

Just saying this can effect games sales if a market is /or seen to be flooded with the same kinda game.

Yes silly worrying about the launch of MEA on a Mass Effect forum. There is obviously more appropriate places for that. Sorry its not a romance thread for you my bad.

There's a lot of sci-fi shooters.

Mass Effect itself came into the Xbox world, when Halo was popular too. Then Gears of War.

That impression is correct as far as the internet goes.

But I haven't played COD since Modern Warfare 2 in 2009, so what do I know.

Same here. heh..

But I heard people are moving to Battlefield... which is kind of interesting.. since it shows most (military) FPS fans just want the basics.

I think Mass Effect will be able to hold up on its own just fine against CoD.

From what I gather, CoD should be worried about Battlefield right now.

While EA would absolutely love to have the CoD crowd buy into MEA, I don't get the impression that it's being marketed toward them. If you read the little marketing done so far, it sounds very much like its aimed at us-- the RPG crowd. They keep extolling it's environments, the focus on exploration, and the like. I believe EA has been convinced of the value of ME's existing customer base, and intends to "win them back" with MEA.

Don't ME and CoD play very differently, anyway? I haven't played CoD since MW, and I realize it has evolved a lot. Still, it seems like they are very differently, mechanically. I don't see ME appealing to a large segment of the "pick up and play" CoD crowd. It's an entirely different experience.

So, no, I don't think CoD's November release will affect MEA's March release at all.

Unless I've been sleep-foruming, I think you'll find me absent from nearly every romance thread.

I worry more about Titanfall 2 lol.

TF2 releases September-December 2016.
MEA in January-April 2017.

Both by EA and will be about colonization, and TF2 gonna have SP.

I wonder why. I mean, I can appreciate basics all right, but how many reiterations does it take for it to become as stale as an old shoe?

Well, WW1 is relatively fresh. So maybe that's why.

Although I don't think it's a good basis for games, personally. I consider myself a WW1 "nut" (if there is such a thing), but a lot of it was long periods of boredom....followed by pointless slaughter and suicide...where 20,000 people would die in a day. So pointless that everyone developed a real distaste for war that didn't exist before... and lingers today. It stripped all the fun and "heroism" of war out.

I haven't even looked at the game though.. not sure how much of it is in the trenches.

People do not care much about CoD: IW. The hype is around Battlefield One.

Pointless slaughter and suicide is pretty much a good battlefield mp round. I prefer the vehicles which is usually accompanied by unintentionally hilarious suicide.

I don't think EA are trying to entice CoD fans to Mass Effect Andromeda.

I don't wish to offend any potential CoD fans here, but, just from past experience, I don't think the core CoD fanbase would be at home with an Mass Effect game entirely, or an EA game, so much in that they are one of the few publishers, along with BioWare as developers, to be fairly progressive and diverse in their representation.

Now CoD's core fanbase may have matured since 2009, which was when I stopped playing CoD too, but somehow I doubt it.

Why would EA invite people from a franchise like that to there equally well established franchise that is very different.

I mean, aesthetically and maybe even thematically Infinite Warfare and Andromeda have similarities, but other than that I don't think one will effect the other too much.

I agree with the OP that there will probably be some stupid trolling on Twitter of how Andromeda is ripping off Infinite Warfare.
