I've never asked a dumb question before so this is new to me.....

 

From time to time I'll be playing with a team and up pops a request for me to 'join a party'.  Most often from people who don't seem to be using a mic during the game.  Just what is the benefit to joining a party in game?  If people want to chat in game would they not just start gabbing over their mic?    Is this a way for only two people to be in party and be able to gossip or laugh at the 3rd or 4th person without them knowing? 

 

Convince me as to a reason I should accept one of these invites.

 

(As an aside usually being a micless person in pugs, I think i am going to turn over a new leaf and use my mic more often.)

If they're silent in the game, and ask you to join a party, the rest of the group is probably in a party talking to each other.

 

When you are in an XBOX party, speaking does not also broadcast through to the DAMP chat, it only goes to the people in the party.

 

The party chat is a little better to the DAMP chat since you won't get the load screen glitches.  Although, sometimes the parties get glitched and no one can hear anything.

 

I try to join nowadays.  When it's working, the XBOX party is a little cleaner.

If it's anything like PS4 the chat is used to rejoin game quickly after a crash.
