Hey folks, I had the idea to craft a playthrough where I do as little recruiting and loyalty missions as possible before completing the suicide mission whilst still getting everyone through alive, then mopping up all the outstanding recruit and loyalty missions with Legion in the squad.

It'd be great to have more content with Legion, and I think I could live with the glaring continuity errors since I've played the game properly a dozen times already. The question is, is this even possible? I believe I have a system worked out for the SM itself:

- Recruit Zaeed and do loyalty missions for him, Jacob, Jack and Garrus.

- Complete Reaper IFF mission to get Legion.

- Recruit Tali (for shields upgrade, and we can take Legion along).

- Upgrade shields, guns and armor.

- Do Legion's loyalty mission.

- Start SM.

- Vents - Legion, Team Leader 1 - Garrus

- Barrier - Jack, Team Leader 2 - Garrus
- Escort - Jack
- Final Fight - Legion, Jacob (both loyal, so both survive)
- Hold The Line - Garrus (4), Zaeed (4), Grunt (3), Miranda (1), Mordin (0), Tali (0) = 2 average for all to survive

However I don't know if you can actually trigger recruitment and loyalty missions after the SM, or whether it is just a case of being able to finish loyalty missions you never managed to finish before starting the SM.

Anyone know?

I did a Legion heavy playthrough a couple of months ago, but tackled it differently.

I recruited the main 4 guys, did Horizon, then 5 small N7 missions to trigger the Collector Ship mission.  Straight over to the IFF, got Legion, then did the whole of the rest of the game with him.

Obviously the crew were very, very dead by the time I got to them.  :?

It wasn't worth it imho.  There were Legion-specific pieces of dialogue in Project Overlord, Tali's recruitment and loyalty missions, and that was it.  He was never even acknowledged in any of the other pieces of content (wait, maybe LoTSB as well).  The fact that everyone was so calm with a geth was walking around was really odd.

As to doing the SM first, as you said that's an odd bit of lore, why recruit when you're all done?  You need 8 squad mates for the SM so it's doable, and I have done a loyalty mission after the SM in the past.  I already had it in the journal though, so I'm not sure if they trigger afterwards or not.

Yes, you can recruit and do loyalty missions afterwards, as the Suicide Mission is not the end of the game. ME 2 was designed so that you could in fact play missions after the Collector plot was finished.

Cheers for that!
