I would say, a lot.
Half of the Star War movie trilogy success was made by the design of the helmet of the Star Troopers and the helmet of Darth Vader...ok I know I'm a bit exaggerating here, but the point is that a detail like an helmet can change the overall feeling of a game.
ME3 in my opinion did not excel in this respect, in fact the enemy troops which, by the way, were the main enemy force encountered during fights, were too generic, and did not different much one from another.
Dont get me wrong, the armour and helmet were well done, but not very original, actually they were anonimous.
I would like to stress the importance of an enemy that has character, personality and the firts hook is the appearance.
I hope Andromeda will fix that.
Since the helmet has the big practical function to cover the face of an enemy, why not designing it with extreme care and thought, since it has to deliver an emotional impact on the player...helmets must represents the spirit of the enemy, which evil spirt it incarnates...
Japanese culture with its masks and helmets (from cartoons and films) has a pronunciate attitude to portray and enhance the enemies spirit exactly through this mystical objects.
What do you think?
