I have been running a lot of tests lately so I was going in and out of matches.   So the faction is NOT random if you did not finish the previous match.   If you are the host and you did not finish a match (fail or quit out) you will get that very same faction when you start another match.  This seems to be very consistence.   If you finish the match and beat the commander, you get to do the random faction again.

 

I am guessing this is the reason someone getting 13 qunari faction matches in a row?   It is probably the homebrew anti-cherry picking faction code.

Nah. During my solos I would reset if I was looking for a certain faction. More often than not I would get a different faction.

Hmmm I kept getting dark spawn this morning like 6 in a row.. which is awesome because I am trying to test Saarebas barrier against the same faction.   So after I was done, I switch to my "favorite" agent the Avvar! and got dark spawn again!   Finish that match...and next match was Venatori.

 

I am pretty sure I saw the same thing last week too when I was testing other craps.   When you try to pick faction, did you start the match by killing something?  Or you just listen to the announcer and quit out?   Mabye once you started killing you are locked in to that faction?

Okay.. so someone who got like 15 in a row of the same faction could verify if he/she went in and kill something and didn't finish the match or not... at least on the very first one.   I think once you are committed.. you are locked in for that faction whether you like it or not.

I like it when I get the same faction over if we didn't finish. Esp if we fade out... like I got to even the score. I think I think about this too much XD

Speaking of Duffy, I used to see him at least once a week. Haven't seen him in a over month now. Anyone see him recently?

Pretty sure it's still RNG.

It makes sense when you realize that same RNG dictates your item awards.

Also, this RNG stuff shows up when you have the stage set to to random.

First zone, FC lightening. 2nd zone Tevinter. 3rd zone, FC lightening again.

I try not to do random since inevitably it'll be FC. If I'm doing random I don't want to do FC.

I would imagine it's RNG. Like getting the same crappy weapons in every chest I open, over and over again. I once got the same crappy bow 3 times, back to back to back, in one chest. That would explain why I get Darkspawn constantly, even though I never lose/quit a match.

 

Seriously though, given there's only five factions, with a small chance to roll Druffy (6), the chance to roll the same faction back to back (to back...ugh) is fairly high. If BW would have coded "you can't have the same faction you just played," then we'd all enjoy the game just a bit more.

I get druffy every few days. In NM i rarely ever get to druffy. wave 4 usually does it in. I got to see him in perilous though. Its not quite the same level of fear.

Just want to report back and my theory didn't work out.  Last night I was testing something, again, and this time I kept getting random faction.  It was so random that it actually made it really hard to test the things I wanted to test.

You will get long streaks of one faction or long droughts of one faction just through natural randomness.  A while back I had a thread in which I had kept track of 500 games and the opponents because I had been getting a LOT of Qunari just after supported ended.  To start I seemed to be hardly getting demons at all, after time things basically balanced out.

 

If I recall out of the factions the lowest was around 95 games and the highest 110 or something.  The rest were inbetween.

Now I am thinking about it again... the previous test when I was getting the same faction over and over again.. it was NM OC setting.   The last one where I was getting random faction, it was Perilous Elven Ruins.   I wonder if those settings has anything to do with the "randomness" of factions....

Faction will reset if map not finished.

While soloing and farming spiders on FC, quitting after first door until Demons are drawn sometimes takes a few tries until the Demons show up, but the factions do change without completing the map, or even zone. Difficulty Level T, P, and NM.

I agree I don't care what what anyone says both the Qunari and Dark Spawn come up way way too many times to be 1 in 5. I had Qunari ten times in a row yesterday. I got so sick of them I stopped playing the game for a while.

 

That being said, I got Dark Spawn the second most but only once with bolters which is odd. All the other times was the rogue contingency which is nearly as annoying.

I do a little bit of fortune telling and i wrote a coincidence scrubber app. (2 cycles different speeds with random value updates. Value match is validated on updates. Try 6 digits ).

 

I know what random 'FEELS' like. DAMP does not feel random.

Ah it´s the most fun when you get both Bolters and Rogues at the same time  

 

but anyway if get so sick of it why not leave the game an make a new lobby?
