Ha! No. I had xbox live up until October, then I took my xbox back to my parents' home in the UK whilst visiting. I only just returned to the UK now. Not sure I want to commit to playing online so I thought I would try a free month trial. 

I don't play console games enough to warrant buying a new console. I'll stick with Xbox360. 

 

Actually now I cannot play, it says I dont have Xbox live privilege. It was working fine last night and now refuses to let me play today :*(

I tried googling it, suggestions seem to be that not paying = no play. I also reset the time on my console back to 2005 on one suggestion in old forums.

Permanently. I did play a handful of games a few months back. I was rusty as ****, and was reminded why I stopped.

I'd contact Microsoft Support, but before that, are you sure the code was for a free month? Most games/promotions generally only give a code good for a couple of days, so I'd double-check that.

 

Also, go into your account info using the Xbox button. Check your XBL Gold status under Account options. Usually, it updates the expiry date after inputting a code, so if it doesn't say anything in there, but the code says that it's good for a month, MS support would be the only ones who would be able to figure out what's wrong.

Yeah its definitely a month. 

Xbox support made me log out and in, hard reboot, clear cache. nothing helped. they said there is some other side issue with xbox gold at moment that the engineers are working to fix and i should try again later :-/

Hopefully that gets sorted out soon. I hadn't noticed any outages, but I've been playing across the XBone network, which wouldn't necessarily be experiencing the same issues.
