SPOILERS BELOW - Just in case you hadn't realised.

Just been over on You Tube listening to all the conversation options when you first meet Kieran.    Not terribly bothered about what he says as a regular boy but his comments as the OGB are interesting:

He tells a human Inquisitor that they are scary because people fear the next age coming too soon - so is he implying you are in fact a Herald of the next age or that your mark has something to do with it.

He questions why an elf Inquisitor would want to look like that - presumably referring to the vallaslin being slave markings.

He says that he can sense the elf Inquisitors old blood.

He says that a qunari Inquisitor has blood that shouldn't have and that he is sorry what was done to their people - reference to the idea Bull mentions about them having dragon blood?

He says that an dwarf Inquisitor can only be tall with the help of the Titans - at this point the dwarf should be asking "who the hell are they?" (unless of course they have already done the Descent).

He says that lyrium gives him terrible nightmares and that not being able to touch magic is like being blind.

He says that his mother is the "inheritor" and that she is part of the next age.

This would definitely seem to suggest that Solas' plan to remake the world is part of Mythal's plan as it will essentially be a new age.   As Dev notes suggested, whatever Flemeth puts into the mirror in the epilogue is likely intended to reach Morrigan, so she can be the inheritor.   In which case the confrontation with Flemeth was indeed a test that Morrigan passed.    Since she was also the one who told Kieran about why people might fear the Inquisitor and her role as Inheritor, this seems to suggest that Morrigan does know a great deal more than she let on, certainly about the fact that we are approaching a new age (when in 9:41-9:42 the next age shouldn't be for another 58 years, even if he was talking about that)

It also suggests that whatever the old gods were they were either involved with or certainly knew about the Evanuris marking their followers, the origins of the elves, the connection between the Titans and the dwarves and whatever was done to the kossith.     So like Mythal they have to have been ancient beings that pre-dated the arrival of humans in Thedas.

Here's a thought.   If he could sense so much about the Inquisitor, could not someone like Solas sense as much about him?   I'd like to think Cole would know too but since Kieran on the whole seems fairly content (apart from the dreams) may be there is nothing to attract him.    Solas, though, we know is not far removed from what Mythal is and thus you would think what Kieran is.   So is he protected from his attention in some way or does he know and it doesn't trouble him?   If the latter that would give some indication possibly of what an old god was.

Any thoughts on this?

I really hope we get him as an companion next game but might as well keep dreaming of that possibility.

Considering he may not exist, that's a long shot.

I guessing that Kieran is a Mage which would help him be more accustomed to the irregularities of his life. Having Morrigan as his mother and teacher has no doubt prepared him to deal with whatever comes his way.

Is Kieran referring to the vallaslin, though? Or to ancient spirits choosing to take the elven form? It would be more consistent with the rest of the references to the other races’ origins. Also, the discussion goes a little bit like that (I'm paraphrasing):

– "Oh, you're an Elf!"
– "Is that bad?"

– "No, but why do your people choose to look like that?" [like an Elf]

That could be true I suppose; I just assumed he was referring to the vallaslin because that is definitely a choice that the Dalish make, whereas even if in the far distant past the elves chose material forms, it is not something that they have any control over now.    Also, why would he think being a material being was so bad when he was one himself and his mother is one?    After all, Morrigan is a shapeshifter, so she can actually choose to look however she likes.    The old gods had mortal form; though admittedly that was a dragon.   Still, I agree that either interpretation could be applicable.

He did remind me a lot of Cole, though.   He knows things that other people don't and yet he is still trying to understand the world around him.  In a way it is a pity that he isn't part of every story and also that Flemeth takes that part away from him, because it would have been interesting to see how he did develop.   Back in DAO the Dark Ritual seemed like such a dubious choice with the potential for bad consequences down the line and yet meeting him in DAI, I felt my Warden would agree with Morrigan that "some things are worth saving" and it was the right choice after all.   Of course, he might have grown up to be a monstrous tyrant (he still could but without the part of him that made him special) but the fact is, now we will never know.

Indeed, it's vague enough it can be interpreted both ways. The elf look was the first impression I got when I first heard Kieran saying it. But he could be referring to the vallaslin.

Also, why would he think being a material being was so bad when he was one himself and his mother is one?

I don't think he meant it was bad being material, just that it was weird the People choose "pointy ears" instead of looking e.g. more like humans, like he does, or Cole for example (or indeed choosing the form of a dragon).

He also reminds me of Cole, one of my favorite characters. It would be so great to see more of Kieran, but unfortunately since the DR is optional we probably won't. Still, it was nice that we at least had some sort of cryptic inside information from he OGB regarding the races of Thedas. :)

Those lines are subtle like a Warhammer. The only one I consider somewhat misterious is the one about elves.

Which one? The one about old blood or why they look like that?

Said the same thing about Leliana being dead in a play through.
