I'd just like to point out. I've been living in a country with the reverse driving position (compared to what I was used to/grew up with), and I have to say, even a passenger it can still freak me out sometimes. You never get fully accustomed to it.

Whoops, guess I'm losing my vision with the transition into a mid 20something. In fairness, my copy of ZAMM is grey and the text on the spine is a lot bigger. At least it made for a nice setup for you :D .

Ahh the TT. Actually have Dunlop's sub 17 lap open in another window right now.

That's a beautifully clean F800(?) and an absolutely gorgeous view.  Where I live in the states is mostly nothing but flat boringness, but on the upside its warm enough to ride year round without much issue.

You're complaining about your eyesight at your age? That's just rude. Spare a thought for Panther - he's old! Like, a whole year older than me old! I'll remember it the next time I don't see 20 headshots before the first objective wave, young 'un. :P True though, you gave me such a laugh.  :D

It's raining on the Isle of Man, so I reckon that lap will hold the record for a year at least. Madness. Don't let Hutchy's performances on that R6 influence you too much either! And yeah, it's an F800S, which is without doubt the greatest single most totally unjustifiable material possession I can call my own. I've had it 6 years and it only has 6k miles on it, and most of them were before I got it. Almost mint. It's officially always for sale, if someone makes me an offer. But I don't want anybody to make me an offer because it's a blast and sure what would I do with the money anyway?! We have the roads ok, but the weather is generally pretty terrible. It gets out on the best days, but my main true love is my 05 Triumph Tiger - last of the 955 triples, and as ugly as sin. I'd sell my house before I'd let it go, as I acquired it by magic(k). True story. Working title is 'Triumph of the Wheel', but that's for another day. I rode it from Derry to Genoa, over the Swiss Alps and back, in training for an American trip which unfortunately never materialised.

Worth reminding all you cagers that the steering wheel can't ever be on the wrong side on a motorbike.  :D  :P

My dad had an original, does that count? And as Hinckley Triumphs go, mine is pretty old, and already considered the classic Tiger. I've never had an oil leak, or even had to top it up between services, so what I lose in cool points I make up for environmentally.  :P

I hear in the late 90s, early 2000s, some smart company made some parts that fix Triumph's notorious problems.

They certainly did. My brother and I have both had Yamahas, Hondas and a Kawasaki which have leaked to varying degrees, but not the Triumph. If only it had my BMW's Brembo brakes, it would be perfect. Well, perfect by my standards anyway  :P

I'm that horrible kind of person who judges your bike, but doesn't ride himself, so I usually stay quiet.

Especially since my tastes in bikes are similar to cars: Old, imposing, and sounding like the apocalypse.

I lament my own shortcomings, it is true. I just.... can't drive/ride. Too many things in the way, which makes me sad. The closest I get is zipping around our yard on my ride-on lawn-mower, which has the added advantage of keeping the place looking good. So, win-win. I know, this makes me doubly sad.

People will have their taste in bikes and cars alike. And then there are those who hate 'em for whichever reason.

My fascination are the old ones, in both cars and bikes.

I guess this sums it up nicely: Loud pipes save lives.

Thiago Silva, a football player of the PSG and of the Brazil national team.

An italian who doesn't like football ?  Is that even authorized in your country ?  ^_^

Thanks ! You look good too (this is said in a totally manly / non gay manner).  ;)

Haha yeah I'm a weird italian from that point of view, I guess. I hate football with a passion. I mean not the sport itself, but all that big, absolutely slimy awfully enormous waste of money that is built around it. Football was awesome back then. It is just not a sport anymore, and the only things I follow are World Championships.

How many nerd points do I get for having D&D maps on my wall?

... How many do I get for recognizing all the places drawn on those maps? :D

loved your earlier photo but how the hell do you not know who Thiago Silva is? I loathe Brazil, and don't really care for PSG either but come on. I'd have think your countrymen would have lynched you by now for not knowing someone whom you are likely required by law to lob abuse/insults at with the rest of the Azzurri fans  .

Yeah I get weird looks whenever people learn that I'm not a football fan. Whatever, I'll stick to real sports :P Though I do follow national teams. But once every 2 years is not enough to get to know all the players.

Besides, Brasil is actually pretty popular here, almost noone has a quarrel with them, football-wise. France and Germany are the ones most people feel the biggest competition with.

I'd just like to point out. I've been living in a country with the reverse driving position (compared to what I was used to/grew up with), and I have to say, even a passenger it can still freak me out sometimes. You never get fully accustomed to it.

When I drove in Australia, it was a nightmare. Not really for the side of the road, which I got accustomed quite soon, but... Because the turn signals and the wipers are inverted!   It drove me crazy, I kept using the turns to wipe my windshield and wiping it when I needed to turn, even after a whole week!

Don't worry, if Australians bother to indicate at all (I don't have a high opinion of drivers in Aus, for a reason), they probably get them mixed up, too.

I could tell you thinks about drivers and roads in Aus that would keep you awake at night.... probably with laughter at how bad it is.

Haha everyone, in every country, seems to say that about the country the live/were born in.

My experience? They all drive terribly. But the southern you go (mentality-wise, not geographically), the worse it gets.

So... Yeah, I actually think it'd be you who'd have nightmares if you ever were to take a stroll through Naples

I had the same issue myself when I drove a friends car which had these two functions inverted. But what was worse for me was that the flicking lights lever was replaced by the single wiper lever. So when I was overtaking someone and tried to flick the lights, I actually wiped the windshield like my car was trying to wave at the oncoming traffic!

Another similar thing was when I first drove an automatic after coming from driving a stick. It's easier but just didn't have the response of a shift and the lack of a clutch pedal was kinda weird. Super convenient to drive though and I have driven some better automatics afterwards which were much more responsive.

There is a nice sketch on that indicator/wiper switching -driving over the san fransisco bridge with a german vw beetle.
The sketch is from bill cosby- so it is now totally uncool. Bad luck for him he didn't study at Stanford/ swim good/ and portrayed himself as the real victim, otherwise he would've also got just a slap on the wrist. Even the law works different for the priviliged.

Thank you. I cut it about 2 weeks ago though!  :P I don't miss it at all. I got bored of having the same hair style for a while.

Ah yeah, earlier in the thread. Still looks absolutely lovely at that length, and I love how it layers! Can never get mine to do anything of the sort (or rather, it never sticks because helmet hair)

Spoiler

I did a haircut and tried to get bangs put in a few weeks ago, but they don't hold up well

yeah yeah, no helmet and I'm not actually a Getty image. Still got sick for 2 weeks for those, so you're welcome BSN.

Now that you mention I am less and less getting that particular accolade in games. Used to be every one but now I miss it every now and again (esp. vs Reapers). Must be getting old :pinched:

Hey, let us Yammie supersport riders have some glory. We haven't been doing well in the World Championships for years, though that probably has much to do with all the money being thrown hand over fist at the GP effort (not that I'm complaining). I'm just glad as is that Hutchy's deal with that Chinese run MV team fell through

Ha, I had you figured a Triumph sort of guy but figured it was to obvious/stereotypical given where you're from. I've actually heard nothing but good things about them (contrary to common "knowledge" that they're of typical British Quality™) and we do have a Daytona 675 owner who sometimes rides with us. It's a gorgeous bike and sounds either angelic or demonic (depending on how hard it's being thrashed at the moment).

Dat pic  . The terrain down here in the southern States/ Gulf coast isn't anything like that. Doesn't mean I can't get good shots every now and again

Spoiler

but it's nothing as beautiful as that. I'd really like to organize a road trip to some of the....more scenic(?) parts of the country (particularly want to see the pacific northwest), but a lot of leave with the current job is a no go.

Also can't give you enough thumbs up for the comment on steering wheels  . Poor cager problems.

You are a weird Italian. :P  Can't blame you though. I love the sport, but yeah, everything surrounding the money in it is vile (particularly FIFA), and that includes the World Championships. I'm probably not going to tune into Qatar 2022 out of protest, not that that'll bring back the slaves that have already died to build the venues. Well, let's say I'll not tune in unless USA (or Russia, birth country) somehow get through the group stage.

^Okay, so yeah that was basically a textbook example of the exact source of the problem.

I'm actually sort of surprised you don't hate them, though I guess 1994 is a long time ago now and y'all have forgotten.
