↑↑The above being said, you can still make and maintain relationships with people online that you have never met. Hell I had a guy fly out from Australia to visit me. He was virtually my best friend for many years, yet never once had met in real life. We've moved on since then but amicably so. (Sorta drifted apart over the years thing.)

 

Hell when I was playing WoW consistently I was in a guild that was mostly couples or women. The innuendo and flirtatious banter was hilarious. One guy offered to fly my roommate (who was the guild leader at the time) out to meet him and hang out.

 

Hell one married woman that I talked to for a few years, only ever known on WoW, never saw her, flat out said she'd take me on a date if we were living nearer and she wasn't married. The feeling was entirely mutual, she was hilarious and awesome. She had this cute voice where you just knew she was this tiny thing maybe 5ft tall. But she was the meanest most sadistic pvp rogue in the early days. She loved killing people in WoW. The mixture of cute and murderous was great.

 

We had I believe three separate couples come over that lived in the same city, just randomly met via WoW antics.

 

Yeah some people need to learn boundaries and the internet is not a safe place, but operating on fear isn't the way to combat that.

 

I am much much happier having this thread where I can actually see the people I am talking to rather than blank slates. That and I'm happy to be able to reciprocate.

Was wondering what that thread was all about (I do that all the time) and then I saw pictures ! It's pretty fun to see all those faces, though I wouldn't want to see the faces of people I've been playing with for a while. Well I don't care about guys really, but I already assigned girls appearances of my own choosing, it'd be pretty hard to replace them after such a long time, especially when they look like this :

I don't know if it was a good idea to post pictures. I kind of regret it now tbh. Some people take advantage of it. Me and a few friends were just talking about it while we were playing mp last night, of how others might take ones pictures and do something with them.... not like it hasn't happened already. Considering of deleting mine. The world is a sick place with sick people who has no lives. Some of those are even amongst us.

I completely understand LR. Like I mentioned on the previous page, I kinda feel a bit bad for posting pics myself because a few people from this forum has taken advantage of it actually, some are amongst us now, acting like nothing happened... and they posted my pics in the Andromeda section around two months ago, a long story. But yeah, I completely understand what you're saying. Sick people are around, even on this forum, people who has no lives but to revolve themselves around others.

This is absolutely unforgivable, I DEMAND A TRIAL BY COMBAT PERMABAN ! I'm goofing around but I do understand what you mean, being taken advantage of. On the other hand, in this day and age, it's next to impossible to protect digital information and well, even though most social networks come with some fail-safes, they're also designed to share that information. I have a facebook account, if I had to do it all over right now, I wouldn't even create one, but now that it's there, I can't say I really care about what little information I gave.

 

My point is, I understand how you feel about having your pictures taken and used against your will and I agree that it's wrong but in the end it's not gonna really hurt you either + right now this section is stronger than Andromeda so if they're looking for a fight they're going to be sorry. If you ever want a trial by combat, you can count on me my Queen, I'll be your champion !

As to those saying that they're apprehensive about posting their photos on the internet, well it's entirely up to you but chances are that you already do it through other social media like facebook, instagram and so on, unless you are particularly careful about your privacy settings. 

 

As for me personally, I like having a bit of anonymity. I wouldn't want you people to realize that I'm not actually a goofy old krogan eh. In fact I seem to be one of the younger generation of posters here. But maybe I will, dunno I'll see how the wind blows for a bit before I post one of myself. I get that. I guess I'm just not really bothered because I can't imagine anything someone might do to/with my pics that would affect me much. Unless somehow they framed me for murder, but I'm not sure how they'd even manage that.

As to OWA, you've already been using pics of yourself as your avatar for months now, your pics are there already. What does putting them in this thread do? They've already done what they were going to do, this thread will change nothing.

 

EDIT: I also had to ask my wife who Jason Lee was (and she was prepared with photos, she knows me), since I'm really bad with names, I recognized the guy instantly, but names elude me. I don't see it, but apparently she does. So maybe you're right.

I just got back from a Memorial Day "Weekend" Nerdfest that lasted 10 days.  We had 16 people there, many of them I have known since 2001, some were even new people I'd never met.  The people I already knew, I have known since 2001.  We first met playing Anarchy Online together.  One of them has been my best friend all this time.  Now we meet once or twice a year to play LAN parties, card games, go to movies, and eat Japanese steakhouses.

 

When I was in my 20's, I probably would have agreed with recent posters here; I was pretty mean and antisocial back then and hated everybody.  My 30's have been a bit friendlier.  If you fap to my pics, I'll take it as a compliment.  It doesn't affect me either way.
