As to OWA, you've already been using pics of yourself as your avatar for months now, your pics are there already. What does putting them in this thread do? They've already done what they were going to do, this thread will change nothing.

 

EDIT: I also had to ask my wife who Jason Lee was (and she was prepared with photos, she knows me), since I'm really bad with names, I recognized the guy instantly, but names elude me. I don't see it, but apparently she does. So maybe you're right.

I'm a pacifist. I haven't hit anyone in, umm, 15 years? Except one occasion when I deflected someone attacking me, and they ended up in the nearby wall, but I didn't hit them, so that doesn't count, technically they just hurt themselves. So, I'm pretty sure you'd still win.

So much awesomeness in this thread. And it's still open after more than a day!!!

 

The privacy thing doesn't bother me as much as the technophobia I feel when it comes to joining in - I always assume I'll post a load of code instead of an actual picture, so I reserve the right to edit this post several times in order to get it right. But as for the privacy, well, I kinda figure that if the governments of the world and their secret agencies already have me on file, what harm is there in the guys I virtually hang out with most regularly knowing what I look like? I'm not on Facebook, and never feckin will be, but I've been tagged a few times on flickr. It's the 21st Century - to paraphrase and invert the words of Andy Warhol, in the future everyone will have privacy for 15 minutes. If they're lucky!

 

The first time I saw SMR I was kinda freaked out by his similarity to Syd Barrett. In case any of you peasants don't know who Syd was, I'll present Exhibit A -

I'll tell you guys another story:

 

I have a cyber-stalker.

 

It's a girl I met in real life.  She seemed nice, and funny, so I gave her my phone number.  She would text me literally every 5 minutes to ask me what I was doing.  She was extremely possessive, and quick to anger if I didn't drop whatever I was doing and pay total attention to her.  I have only ever seen her twice, and that was over 5 years ago.  I don't even know her last name, so I can't look her up on Facebook to block her.  Because to this day, she still comes to my Facebook page, and sends messages to my friends and girlfriends, telling them to leave me alone because I belong to her.

 

Occasionally this raises questions with my friends, and I tell them the same thing I'll tell you guys now:  That there are weirdos all over the world, not just on the internet, and unless you lock yourself away in your room and have no contact with anybody, in any way shape or form, then you are going to encounter them.  It's just something you have to learn to deal with.  I'm certainly not going to let her ruin my life, or stop me from having fun.

 

Yeah, I basically don't care as long as people don't make a point of telling me about it.
