Ok seriously if both sony and microsoft had to make those HW upgrade to console why not simply make them modular so you can simply take off the outdated hardware and replace it like in a PC?

At first I thought "Never, that would bring less cash." But would it? I mean, if people had only parts to replace, not buy new console to gather dust, I believe more of them would be willing to upgrade. More people on new hardware means more new games for said hardware sold.

Exactly you do some guided slot with some kinda of switch that you open->remove the old hardware->put inside the new one->close the switch.

Nothing in "free fall" as replacing CPU or GPU in a PC but something that even you average joe could do it, i don't think is something outside the realm of te possible

That'd be awesome, but I imagine they want to make these things as bulletproof as possible and not have to build entire support teams to deal with hardware upgrade issues.
