ME was far too short compared to others, but we got interesting news:

* Ryder is the protag's name

* There is more than one Ryder, they don't mean gender with this

* Dialog convo isn't black x white

* They're just polishing the game

* It'll be a spring release

* Mako is our supreme ride

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

SO GOOD to hear all these things. Especially the polish phase part!

I'll add to that further confirmation that we should be getting more news later this year. I'm thinking they'll show some more stuff at Gamescom (only two months from now) and after that they'll open the floodgates and reveal everything they promised over the next several months.

Another little piece of news from an IGN interview with Mac Walters.

http://ca.ign.com/ar...ural-experience

He says that they've realized that romances are kind of formulaic, just hit a few key scenes, and then bam, romanced. Wants to make it more organic and life-like, and not dependent on a few decisions.

So... happy and relaxed?

Because that's how rainy days make me feel, personally. It's not like that with everyone?

Well, I do like rainy days but no I was referring to the character's face. Which is sad and disheartened. I changed it to better illustrate.

The player character's? It is customizable so that is something if that's the one you dislike.

Err... that's my happy and relaxed face. Believe it or not, I don't smile nearly as much as my virtual persona  :D

After yesterday, I was expecting this interview to be very, very vague and reveal nothing at all. The only thing I regret is that it didn't last longer, since Walters seemed ready to spill the beans at the slightest pressure.

Think she's referring to the gif earlier.

That's part of it.

Their backstory isn't. Now we are stuck with a character whose family is defined and has ties to the story.

That actually improves my expectations for the game a little bit. One less issue from DAI that is being carried over. I understand not everyone agrees with me, but DAI was always the odd one out in that regard. We've always had characters with defined backgrounds in Bioware games, until Inquisition came along.

I loved the ambiguous backstories of DAI. It was a step forward, but now they took two steps back.

Yeah, I said earlier it can either be interesting or an oh so bad thing. I do hope we are allowed to decide how we feel about our Family.

If we have to have a mandatory family then I want to have more freedom to define how the player character feels about it and not have them take a set role in the family like caretaker. I'd like to be able to play as someone who have a distant relationship to their family or dislikes their siblings to the point where they try to get out of being around them.

To be fair, it's a different team. DAI doing that wasn't a sign the MEA team would've followed the same direction.

I obviously disagree, but as I said it's a subjective thing where they can't please everyone. If it makes you feel any better, it's not like there aren't other games with ambiguous backstories. Gotta take our blessings with our curses, right?

In fairness, it is a different developer team but I suppose the same can be applied seeing as Shepard had the option of being an orphan and some freedom to shape how they felt about their past.

Hopefully they give those options. Though I'm fully expecting and dreading a situation similar to the Hawke family in Dragon Age 2.

But even Shepard's backstory was more ambiguous than this.

Are any of them space RPGs that focus on choices, characters, and story?

Yeah, while Shepard had some of the backstory be unambiguous, that was literally just two moments of their lives and you could have options about how you felt about it.

While I'm all for family, I seriously hope no Fallout 4-type family.

I doubt that.

I wonder if they'll do again the different pre-sets for your relatives as in DA2.

Sure there are! Some of them are even free.
