Yeah, I said earlier it can either be interesting or an oh so bad thing. I do hope we are allowed to decide how we feel about our Family.
If we have to have a mandatory family then I want to have more freedom to define how the player character feels about it and not have them take a set role in the family like caretaker. I'd like to be able to play as someone who have a distant relationship to their family or dislikes their siblings to the point where they try to get out of being around them.
Hopefully they give those options. Though I'm fully expecting and dreading a situation similar to the Hawke family in Dragon Age 2.
To be fair, it's a different team. DAI doing that wasn't a sign the MEA team would've followed the same direction.
But even Shepard's backstory was more ambiguous than this.
I obviously disagree, but as I said it's a subjective thing where they can't please everyone. If it makes you feel any better, it's not like there aren't other games with ambiguous backstories. Gotta take our blessings with our curses, right?
Are any of them space RPGs that focus on choices, characters, and story?
In fairness, it is a different developer team but I suppose the same can be applied seeing as Shepard had the option of being an orphan and some freedom to shape how they felt about their past.
Yeah, while Shepard had some of the backstory be unambiguous, that was literally just two moments of their lives and you could have options about how you felt about it.
