It's not that I am opposed to a female protagonists in the promotional material. Quite frankly, I'm not even all that excited for Andromeda to begin with.

But could you find a less villainy way of asking for it? "The feminist movement is now stronger than ever."

I did not buy FA3  until sometime after all of the dlc was released because I thought it was a shooter with a male protagonist.  Wasn't interested in either of these.  Can't remember how I found out that you could play either a male or female, just like you could in the Elder scrolls.  Might even have been on this site back when they had many different places to talk.

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Fallout+3

Go to wiki and "The game starts with the main character as a newborn, whereupon the player determines the race, gender, and the general appearance of their character."

You can do this to all games.

Curious, here.

Why do you say "cheesy"? Is the statement " white male" offensive? too much for you?

On the other hand, marketing may have numbers you don't have.  Marketing's number one goal is to make sales.  Now, how can you possibly argue with that goal?

As I said a lot of times before,a neutral main character would give the idea of a customizable character or at least of a person that doesn't fit in any ethnicity or gender, probably increasing the game's sales.

It would be good for marketing, trust me.

Isn't this Xbox live users only? it certainly does not include my statistics on PC.

Also, DA:I is a much more recent and interesting stat:

Dragon-Age-Inquisition-Gender-Statistics

Xbox and PS4 users slant the statistics a lot for DA:I (looks like maybe 25% Xbox and 27% PS4 chose female avatars, with it being closer to nearly 50% on mustard face). Interetsing that the older consoles are also much more even.

I wonder if the same applies for ME3 - i.e. Xbox users are much more likely to only play as male characters, hence the 18%. I also think that having the default quick start as a man may also contribute (which DA:I changed).

I am not saying it has a correlation but they did invest more time on FemInq, especially on the marketing department. Of course the MaleInq still got more attention, especially in the mainstream market. The most seen trailers on youtube still have the male character exclusively for example, although there is a gameplay video with the FemInq.

If people seeing a male character assume they're playing that character and that character only then will those same people not also assume they are playing that gender neutral character only?

I mean I've no real issue with having a gender neutral character or using both genders. I don't imagine as it really costs them anything extra and at the very least I also don't imagine as it reduces sales which means worst case scenario there's still no harm in it I can see, but I'm still curious about this.

Dear Bioware,

We have a problem, yes, we, the players.

Since we require representation in your work, you need to add a man and a woman in the cover of all your games.

All games or people will be sad.

Players think that they have rights to change your work.

So, with no doubt, you can add naked human bodies in the cover.

Because someone people can't stand the idea of having a virtual penis or vagina.

They can't accpet this.

They need confirmation that they can play with a man or a woman.

Imagine the situation: What's wrong with me? My virtual body has a penis. I am woman, Why? Why?

Dear Bioware, remember, it's not your fault that you have neurotic players.

Baby, sorry.

A kiss for you.

Because you opted out, right? Those figures include my PC stats. I've never seen the sense in keeping my preferences out of the surveys; all that can ever do is make my personal tastes look less common than they are, which can't be useful for me.

In practice, it probably doesn't matter either way. There's no way to figure how the players who opted out differ from the players who didn't opt out.

No amount of marketing makes me play female Inquisitor. Only Solas makes me play female Elf but DA:I just to boring and to much filer content to play many Playthrough. And Bioware with DA:I changing target demographic from male to female, and marketing department like always knows nothing about game, market for male demographic and lies. And still just 1/3 play female. Bioware problem they don't want one demographic they want all the players and all minority's at the same time.

They can just have the ship and a cool planetary landscape, with no PC on the cover.

Problem solved.

But wouldn't some people think that you'd be forced to play as a ship? It would avoid the gender shitstorm though, so good idea!

I'd like the ark ship approaching the Andromeda galaxy.

Honestly, whatever Bioware does, they're going to offend somebody.

They can use whoever or whatever they want to promote the game. If the game is good, I'll probably buy it, doesn't matter if they use a male or female for the marketed protagonist.

I don't think it is a case of offending anyone, merely reflecting the fact that it is 2016 and things have moved on.
Hell even Disney is going against its traditons as it has realised it needs to adapt (for example gay Elsa). I don't think that gruff mcdudeson really cuts it anymore, or at best appeals to much smaller market than it used to.

Maybe if they do a female focused marketing campaign they have a small pop up message that says 'Still your cries of anguish! You can still play as your white, short haired stubbly gruff voiced man! No-one is trying to steal your games from you, now here's a lollypop and I'll make you some hot chocolate. There, all better now?'.

ME1 and ME2 always depicted the PC as male in the promotional arts/videos,and ME3 used MaleShep as the cover boy 80% of the time.

Women were never respected and seen as equal as they are now,and the feminist movement is now, stronger than ever.I think it would be a nice change if Bioware decides to show the main character more as female than male this time, you know, just so we could see a diversified main character as the cover of the promotional arts, not just another "cheesy white dude"

I hope Bioware would do that as well would be a nice gesture from them and to all the female players that are out there including me. And more are coming every day and that's a good thing because maybe some day we will be in the majority instead of the minority.

So if the female character technically has more content throughout, but most trailers feature the male character, the developer is suddenly lying because of some idea that they switched their "target demographic"? How does this logic even follow? The male character is available. It would only be lying if suddenly there was no male Inquisitor to play. Also, why should any developer feel obligated to go for just one particular group among gamers? This is a product sold for profit. Of course they want more people to play it.

I think those figures are inaccurate

Especially considering that it's way outdated.

They come straight from Bioware. They were accurate at the time that infographic was made (late March 2013), for the people who allowed the game to send data to Bioware.

Lies like this.

Or make cool lines like "Will you save this world or or will you lead this world to its bitter end" You always save world and win Inquisitor can't be "evil" or fail.

This game is bigger and more ambitious than ever. yes cool more deserts.
