Challenge them and you'll be sleeping on the couch for a month.
You could just sleep at your mistress' apartment. Problem solved.

Yeah sure. Essentially it's the same character in terms of plot. Of course they aren't going to be completely androgynous because Bioware is good enough at handling the male vs female player thing most of the time.

ME1 and ME2 always depicted the PC as male in the promotional arts/videos,and ME3 used MaleShep as the cover boy 80% of the time.
Women were never respected and seen as equal as they are now,and the feminist movement is now, stronger than ever.I think it would be a nice change if Bioware decides to show the main character more as female than male this time, you know, just so we could see a diversified main character as the cover of the promotional arts, not just another "cheesy white dude"

DAI showed the female Inquisitor more than the male. I wouldn't be surprised if they take this approach again with MEA.

Yes that is true with regards the DLC's but I'd say they'll likely be neutral and doing some of both to start with.As it seemed pretty neutral in the initial promotional material for DAI

Nah, I prefer a male being in the promotional art.
It's a product I spend money on, I prefer what I want, I accept that you do the same so let's stop pretending it's about fairness or even sadder a "feminist issue" it's about what the people buying the game want

You're saying a male's crotch is more interesting than a female's one to GenderWare.
Interesting.

There's pretty much no way this thread is going to go to a good place, so I figure I'd just point that out.
And why not ?

I prefer nobody. It's better to show something from the game, mainly when it's a game with custom character.
Why just one?
You want the female with no male, it's the same thing from the past covers with another gender.
Both? I don't know. It's better not.
It's not because it's a white male that all white male are represented, equal as women.
Or do you want to decide the hair, skin, eyes color too?
Representation is more than gender and skin color.

It's all about the flip cover.
As long as the female is on at least half the shipped copies.
I AM NOT A FEMINIST! I don't think women need to force representation in everything and everywhere.....but Bioware offers both sexes as a protagonist, therefore, half of their promotion should be the other sex in order to appeal to all their fans equally.

Uhg! The 'f' word of this age. *shiver* Feminism. Srsly tho, nothing against being one or not. You can want equality without resorting to being part of a group or movement. For those against, well…
I think it largely depends on what's going to be considered canon. Will Ryder (the PC's rumored last name) be female or male? I would hope that, for once, a BW PC will be female but, if the sneak peaks so far have been any indication, it's going to be a male.
Kinda lame but i'll get over it.
Someday.
What i want is a female Ryder. Looking back at the previous trilogy, i'm happy that over 75% of my runs were female because Jennifer Hale is phenomenal. You could hear the differences between scenes and her comedic timing was spot-on. And the closing hand-over from the trilogy belonged to her because of how good she was. Even if she was only heard 18% of the time, it was enough that there was a flip-cover for ME3.
I'd like to see, and hear, the next Ryder be female. For variety, representation and as Hale herself pointed out during an interview, i'd rather look at a female ass most of the time.
I'll have my "myself" playthrough of course but only after a badass, hopefully wicked funny, female Ryder takes the reins.

Why are you talking as if the PC is going to have a definitive gender? Shepard didn't. Sure, MaleShep was focused on a lot more than FemShep but there is no canon gender for Shepard.
There is no question of whether the PC is going to be male or female, because it's going to be different for everyone.

I usually make my own character if possible. I don´t need a cover with the hero´s face on it. DA:I´s cover was fine for me.

EAware still haven't shown a representation of a Jewish/Greek asexual male protagonist. I feel oppressed that there is no such representation, EAware you're racist!! ![]()

This is not how marketing works. Imagine how many female-oriented unsold copies there would be there. Do you think there would be enough market to sell them again? Or to produce more male-oriented copies to counterbalance?
Meh people, use your brain for once.
If there's only a chick on a vg's cover, if it's a damn good game I'm buying it regardless, I'm not questioning fake morals to kill my free time.
Hell, Vampire TM: Bloodlines has a chick on the cover, I shouldn't have bought it...

Good point. How about the concept art of the two protagonists with the female PC checking out her Omni-tool while the male PC is in the background with his gun raised? I think that might be decent promo material and even box art.

Plus the vast majority of ME3 players played M!Shep according to statistics.
Say what now?
Okay.....I see where this is going.
Not touching it.
Well, according to the PCgamer statistics (the newest one),40% of the players played as femshep,so it's almost half of the numbers.
Besides, what is the problem of having a woman representing the default PC in the artworks? even if most of the players played as Maleshep, the female main character also deserves the same space.
and by now I mean nowadays.Or do you think every country in the world always respected women's rights? ![]()
