My Shep always romances Tali. I've noticed that the relationship is kept secret from the other Quarian leaders. Does anyone know why? I'm really curious. Also, if Shepard survives, it's likely that he and Tali marry. You'd think they'd notice the name change to Tali'Shepard vas Normandy.
Serious Question: Why do Tali and Shepard have to keep their relationship secret from the other Quarian Admirals?

Avoiding conflict of interest and Quarian bigotry seem the likely culprits to me. She is an Admiral of the Fleet after all, her loyalties cannot be divided in the eyes of other Quarians and they are a very insular, tribal people. Choosing a mate outside of the Quarian people would be looked down upon, as she would have a 'duty' to keep the Zorah family going to the next generation.

Professional Ethics. A public and open relationship would make it a viable reason for the other Admirals to question Tali's logic and reasoning due to the relationship.
If Shepard contradicts the other Admirals and Tali jumps to support him given their relationship it is 100% understandable that the other Admirals would jump to the conclusion she is only supporting him because of the relationship and they would be well within their rights to void any arguments or reasons she gives.

It's not unique to the romance. If you're not with Tali she still tells you that she needs to keep it strictly business in front of the admirals, and that you should talk to her in private in your quarters if you want to catch up. The situation at that point is tense and the quarians needed to be assured that Tali as an admiral was putting the quarian people's well-being at the top of her priority list.
