I just got DAI for PC, finally. With Flycam...think I'm gonna need an external hard-drive.
I run into this issue where the cut scenes are sometimes not flycam-able. Am I the only one? Like right after Battle for Haven, when they're all camped out.... and Solas lights the veil fire to speak to the Inquisitor personally.... when I press Insert for flycam, the entire scene is like a layer that is turned off, revealing static camp assets. And I can't flycam the veilfire scene.
I don’t know if Trevor Morris replied to you, but just so you know, the music that plays during the encounter with Solas in Trespasser is exactly the “Dark Solas” theme, but not with its full instrumentation. There are, what are called, stems (these are instrument tracks) missing. (For example there are less percussion, no brass etc.). What composers usually do, when composing music for video games, is provide game developers with the stems of the music tracks, and they code the music into the game. I think in this case the game designers decided to use a sparser instrumentation, with fewer stems, so that it doesn’t distract from the dialogue. However, the original composition was composed as is heard in “Dark Solas” theme. (I know these things as a composer myself who has composed music for (indie) video games). It would surely be great (I had been looking for it myself, before comparing the tracks side to side and realising what’s going on - and yes those YouTube versions sound dreadful!) if the composer decided to release the version with the sparser instrumentation, but maybe he doesn’t want to or doesn’t have the time to prepare it.
Dark Solas and Lost Elf are definitely variations of the same theme; that's why I took precautions distinguishing the variation I was looking for from them.
The source audio samples may be shared in common by all three, but the editing must be more involved than simply thinning the number of instruments. The tempos, for instance, are different.
I mean obviously I don't purport to know so much as a mighty composer, but I know what tempo is. Geeze

Why did you take what I said the wrong way? It was in no way meant to insult you. "Lost Elf" is indeed a variation of the same theme and it is slower. It has a different instrumentation all together. The tempo in "Dread Wolf" theme and "Dark Solas" is the same, but "Dark Solas" feels faster because the "Dread Wolf" theme lacks the intense percussion instruments.
As I said previously, he might not even have the legal ability to do that, per the contract he signed with Bioware.
It is most likely as you point out. Although I believe he does earn royalties from the released Soundtrack, he was probably hired for just those 5 Trespasser tracks which he composed, and is not responsible for what the game designers decided to do with them.
As it has been pointed out he probably doesn't have the rights to give out the music he composed for the game since he was under contract to EA. If you really want to push to see it for sale you might want to contact EA direction and express your interest to them.
Hey everyone. After reading what Evangelithe wrote and being reminded that "The Dread Wolf" has the same tempo as "Dark Solas Theme", and downloading the higher quality version from Iynroy (thanks!), I decided to combine them! I decided to call it "Fen'Harel" since that seemed fitting.
It's not hugely different than normal. Obviously the two track play at the same time, so there's that, as well as a short drum intro that plays right before the Saarath fight (and therefore Dark Solas Theme) in the DLC.
If you're interested in useless information, I wondered why, if they were at the same tempo, they were different lengths. I realized it was because part of section B was missing in "The Dread Wolf" (the tracks have an A, B, A format, so the middle). Section B incorporates both the beginning of "Journey to Skyhold" (which is awesome and I found fitting since it reminds me of Solas), and the Inquisition Theme.
The first half of B, the "Journey to Skyhold" part, doesn't play in "The Dread Wolf", only the second Inquisition Theme half. The JtS part starts at 1:41 if you're interested, and as you can hear, only the DST is playing then, and TDW starts back up for the second half of B.
Again, it's not much different, but I hope you guys enjoy it!
