How are they gonna handle the inventory? Like if you carry too much, you will slow down and your abilities will slow down or will you have like a set limit of inventory? This game will be more semi open world where you explore each planet, I wonder which one they will go with. Which ones do you guys prefer?

I would prefer a separate inventory for crafting because you well know there is going to be crafting and a separate one for items. Crafting one needs to be endless while the normal one would be fine with a set amount of spaces

Whatever they do, I hope they remove slowness due to weight, since I don't want to get penalized for exploring and collecting stuffs while playing as a mage. Maybe if they did have it, make collecting items for crafting separate from weapons and don't affect carrying weight for weapons.

If we are actually going to be finding things on planets, I think they may go the tagging route atleast for resources anyway. I doubt they'll go for an actually inventory. What I mean by tagging route is; when you have found materials, for example, your character will tag it's location. Leaving it for pick up.

I didn't like the inventory system in all three games. I would prefer a traditional inventory with slot view, able to sort, add and delete items. I'm fine with slow cooldown of abilities upon "equipping" items. Able to see inventory through omni blade tool would be nice.

Oh crap there'll be an inventory. ![]()
I love not having one in ME2 and 3, it saves so much faffing about trying to figure out what to toss. 'But I might really need these 32 werewolf pelts sometime...'
ME1 is extremely frustrating in that regard.
I spent way too long slowly walking around in Oblivion as I'm scared to sell important things (and steal every potato in sight). I would not want that in ME:A, it's just frustrating. Deus Ex:HR had a fiddly but simple slot system which was okay, whatever they do keep it simple and for the love of the maker don't let us loot rags and broken gemstones. ![]()
The best inventory is no inventory.

Inventory is the one part of realism I can do without. Do people prefer limited inventory or be able to carry a bunch of different items and weapons without worrying about over the carrying limit?

Inventory = trouble dicarding stuff "I might need". It's rarely done right.

I hate dealing with inventory management. May it never return.

Don't think there'll be an inventory. Since your Mako is alway around the corner, just like your ship. There's no real logic for limited capacity in the long run.

Well, if it means anything, the inventory isn't very realistic at all. I mean, realistically, neither your PC or companions could carry more than a couple of things at a time. I guess ME1 Shepard had Hermione's bottomless knapsack.

For a personal loadout I'd love a detailed inventory, slot wise. Like a set of armor having several slots that can accept sidearm holsters, clip pouches, medigel packs and various gadgets. Some armor types may have jetpack slots on their back, some not, and so on. Let me customize my guy's gear, but don't make me worry about what I pick up on the way.

Just a scanner, nothing more. If something physical needs acquiring, send a clean up team in after I'm done. ME3 was the best in the series in this regard.

Oh i find that so annoying and irritating when your inventory slows you down when you carry to much. So if it were me who could decide this matter then it would be no limit on your inventory.

an omni-tool inventory screen where you can see all your armour and all that would be quite cool, kinda reminiscent of fall out 4s wrist armour things that you wear

I hope omni tool interaction will be a thing by looking at the trailer and concept art.

ME1's is not the model to follow, however. Lists are clumsy to navigate, and there wasn't enough variety in the sorts of things you could have. ME1's inventory is the one I would build if I were trying to convince people that inventory was bad.
Ideally, we'd have an unlimited inventory on the ship, and a severely limited inventory (in all respects) when off the ship.

I like that. 30 points on your person, 30 each of your active squadmates, 150 in the Mako, and unlimited back on the ship.

I think D3 inventory pretty much perfected a console rpg inventory UI imo.
Id very much like to see something similar for loot with a gamepad.
