Wow, it's tough. Hunt on Volcano is insane. With all my squad kitted with Tungsten X, I still can't beat my high score of 26.  I just can't kill them fast enough because of their shield spamming.

Any tips?

I don't think Pinnacle station was created to sync with higher difficulty in mind unlike ME2 and ME3's Arsenal Arena.

Hunt on Volcanic is the only near-impossible mission in Pinnacle Station on Insanity. I have only ever seen one person beat it on Insanity.

If you have the Insanity Achievement already, drop the difficulty to beat it.

If you do not have the Insanity Achievement, I recommend saving your game > skip Pinnacle Station and beat the game > reload your save and lower the difficulty to beat it.

And for the record: you have to beat the high score to place 1st on the leaderboard. If you tie the high score, you are put in second place on the leaderboard. I know from experience.

The big problem with Hunt on Volcanic is it is fairly big and the enemies tend to spawn at bad points, either in buildings or on top of the scaffolding where you cannot hit them.

I don't know whether it does or not, but obviously on high difficulties, they take longer to kill.

That's exactly my problem.  I didn't have any Tungsten ammo so I've even tried consoling it into my inventory but even with that I still can't beat 26.  As you say, they spawn too sparsely and as soon as you get any damage done, they spam shields. I had the same problem on Tropical Time trial. I couldn't get to each spawn location quick enough because of the sprint cooldown.  I did it eventually in 1:05, but again, I had to cheat by adding shredder rounds. I only had sledgehammer, inferno, HE, or snowblind - none of which would do enough damage to kill them before the medigel'd,

I was tempted to drop the difficulty last night, but so far I have refused to.  I'll see if I can't break 30 first, and then I'll drop it a difficulty.  I have the Insanity achievement already (this is the first time I've ever played PS as I was led to believe it was terrible - it's actually better than expected) so I'll drop the difficulty if I have to.

Just watched a video of a guy getting 60+ on his level 60 soldier on insanity. It's a really annoying video to watch as the FPS is very low, but he uses the squad menu to pause the game and aim before unpausing and firing.

Not saying all of it was impossible at high difficulty but certain things like Time Trial is impossible on Insanity without some form of modding which you already know^ it simply takes forever..

For the Time Trials, I find it best to take Kaidan and Liara with you. Run to the spawn point (don't overmax the sprint function), use Kaidan and Liara to disable the enemies, then shoot them dead. Repeat.

Liara's Singularity and Lift and Throw is good. Kaidan's Lift and Throw is good. Throw can outright kill enemies on Pinnacle Station. Lift and Singularity is good for lifting enemies so you can shoot them dead before they spam Immunity or Shields or whatnot.

For Hunt, you need killers like Ashley or Wrex or Garrus.

For Survival, Ashley and Wrex are good since they can last a long time and take some of the heat off of you.

For Capture... just run. You can take anybody and win.

Pinnacle Station is best left when you are 50+ and have a bunch of really good weapons and mods. Too early and you will lack the equipment and squad points to lower your cooldowns and you will not have the best weapons to deal the most damage.

Hunt Volcanic is the only mission in Pinnacle Station I have never beaten on Insanity and I have given up trying. Everything else is doable. Having Tungsten and Shedder Ammo helps immensely.

You've probably seen in my other recent posts, but I'm using an XP multiplier so I can get to level 60 in one game. I have already beaten ME trilogy on insanity twice, so I don't see it as cheating per sé, but instead just having more fun with power spamming ha.  I am level 52 and have done all the side missions available to me, except for BDtS and Kahoku's Missing Marines, but I haven't been to any of the plot worlds yet.  I have X spectre gear/ammo and decent-ish armour but I just couldn't get enough DPS down to keep the timer high enough.  It's really tough when one kill only adds 4s (I think?) to the timer...

For time trial, I found taking Kaiden and Wrex very beneficial.  As an Adept, I have access to 3 high level throws meaning I can throw entire spawns to the thier death or use grenades.

Now I would say that I'm pretty good at ME1, but that sounds impossible and I'm not even going to try...plus, that requires actually buying the DLC.

I thought it was free these days. It just showed up when I installed via Origin.

I play on xbox like the little pleb I am. It's only £2 on xbox live so I can afford it but I don't think it'll really add anything to the game tbh.

My personal advice would be to bring a technician or even two to the Volcanic Hunt, helps a lot. Especially on Insanity. Make sure you have both Tali and Garrus with fully developed Electronics, Decryption and Damping skills, as well as their class skills. Defeating enemies will be much easier that way.

Sabotage overheats their weapons, Overload blows off their shields, Damping stops them from using Shield Boost and Shield Screens. Add to that, all those abilities actually do health damage on synthetic opponents if they are unshielded (nowhere ever I saw that mentioned in the game or in guides, but it exists).
Tali's AI Hacking could help a lot as well, as you cold close in on opponents distracted by the hacked pawn and shoot them point blank, dealing more damage that way,

As for the bullets, I'd personally recommend using Polonium Rounds, since in addition to their initial damage bonus they also have the damage over time effect. Works for me. Any heat-reducing and/or damage-increasing weapon mods would also help.

I thought that too, but it was really nice seeing new (to me) content for the best game of the series.  It was a really nice surprise getting for free via Origin.
