Last I checked the central point of the Mass Effect trilogy was about the Reapers, and finding a way to stop them.

Even this new game isn't about romance. It's heavy on exploration.

Its a way of expressing love. Sex is pleasure. Love making is pleasure with meaning. Mas effect Andromeda is heavy on RPG. A relationship based on sex is for young, immature lovers. A mature relationship includes care, trust, and of course sex to express love and eventually procreate. Some relationships don't have it which is fine but I don't know how that works out. I'm not the love guru.

I'm inclined to agree, if I ever want to get off by videogame characters I'll just watch hentai, but I'd rather have the game itself made tastefully.

Plenty of ways to express that you care about someone without sex. 

 

If two people share similar interests and form a relationship based on that, it's still a romance.
