I have a thing for angular faces. I'd take a sharp, square jaw over a lantern jaw any day.
Yes I can see that although those cases are two extremes. It's not a bad thing though, kinda impressive in a way if a bit unusual.

So... what you're saying is that you want awesome hair physics, right?

Is it really a real pic, or is it just the magic of photoshop ?
Rita Vrataski has the best combat hair ever created:
Really, between Edge of Tomorrow and Sicario, Bioware can find all the hair styles MEA needs!
Not bad at all.This:
Hawt.I always liked Natalie Dormer's hairstyle for Hunger Games.
?
As much as I loved Rita in Edge of tomorrow, I did not like her hair. Combat hair style? If I get close enough I could grab her hair and pull her goddamn scalp off her skull. Wouldn't that be nice?
No soldier risks sporting hair that could get caught, pulled or catch flames leading to serious injury or inability to continue the fight.
Also no helmet! Even though that's an aesthetic choice and they say it blocks some vision, realistically I'd say the trade off of saving your life is worth it .

Avoiding injury and being able to fight are priorities number one and two in combat.
A lot of historical warriors wore their hair long, actually. The Spartans were famous for their long hair and beards, supposedly because Lycurgus thought that long hair "added beauty to a good face, and terror to an ugly one."
Well, a lot of things were less than ideal and strange back in that time. Just 300 years ago people wore bright red and blue uniforms, marched in tight formations and shot each other to pieces volley by volley. Some 800 years ago men in steel armor were running around in the desert dying from the heat.
Crusaders were idiots. Arabs weren't that much into heavy armor.
I think people overestimate the prevalence of things that they perceive as practical in real combat situations.

In my personal opinion, there is no such thing as overestimating the prevalence of practicality...
Things they perceive as practical.
But even then, there are plenty of examples of "impractical" outfits warriors have worn throughout history. Up to and including no outfit at all.
Naturally, that doesn't apply to the atmospheres of alien planets or to outer space. But we were talking about combat.

Dear Bioware,
Its okay that the design team don't want to waste their time on female hair physics -because anything to do about females 'so haaaard', we know- but layered hair like this, which gives an illusion of movement is very doable.
But I don't want this as a mod, I want this for real in the game and not the same crap you recycle over and over in all your games. I really don't want another game needing mods to fix all the cosmetic mistakes you left in game post-production. I love modders to bits but this is ridiculous.
And for the love of god, give the main female PC a face model.
Things they perceive as practical.
These are a mix of Female Short/Medium/Long that I like, which also have great examples of multi-colours and/or highlights. That's something I really would love to see for both male and female hair.
Which also reminds me... I hope we'll have the option to choose eyebrow colour separately. I found it really annoying that I couldn't do that in DA:I. But eyelash colour? Oh yes, that can be different... ![]()
I'm not much into ''perceiving, I like facts. Fact is, hair can distract you in combat, can lead to injury, your opponents can even use it against you to cause injury or control you in hand to hand combat and last but not least it can result in hygienic problems as well. Those are facts. Not getting rid of it or wearing it really short simply makes no sense for a logical thinking human being who is about to participate in a battle.
Allow me to quote DAO for you:
Loghain: Leliana, this runs counter to all sense and accountability.
Leliana: People aren't sensible creatures all the time.

True, but the thing is, the less sensible (or rational) people do not fare well in combat, especially prolonged combat.-
I've read many books written by people who participated in combat and fought in wars and no matter the period or war, they all had one thing in common: they were among the most level headed, pragmatic and sensible people of their time.
But to get back on track, I'd like to see male short undercuts in the CC:

Guys, I'd really appreciate it if you could take that discussion/argument to another thread, please.
There's one here where similar issues and opinions are already being discussed:
Long hair for female character?
