Lift Grenade triggering unexpected BEs

Hey there.

I recently noticed that once every three or four hundred lift grenades, one of them triggers a biotic explosion on a Stasis Bubble (Chargeless Asari Vanguard played by a friend of mine). Which makes absolutely no sense to me since it didn't trigger that combo the other two hundred and ninety nine times a lift grenade hit a primed target. And well, the Lift Grenade is simply not supposed to trigger any combo whatsoever.

And before anyone asks, yes, I am absolutely sure that nobody else in the team could detonate the BE and that it was indeed triggered at the exact same time the lift grenade hit the primed target.

It's not a somewhat interesting way of making combos, nor reliable, but I'm curious : how the hell can this happen ? Has anyone of you ever seen this happening as well ?

When the primed target is without protection (blue/purple/yellow) the lift grenade will detonate.

Right... And since the explosions doesn't always occur is the detonating power alone is enough to kill the enemy... That would explain why the explosions are very rare, since the grenade most likely oneshots every unprotected target.

That was really simple, actually. Thanks !

That's actually one of the main reasons why clusters are so superior.

Breitling and Longines are also superior to Tag Heuer and Tissot. I also don't know why. It is just some gut feel.

...And whilst we wait for Andromeda we calculate random events like these.

The part that makes no sense is skipping charge

Do Lift grenades even lift bro? A handful will just straight up murder all mooks, not lift them.

But I've never seen or heard a Lift nade detonate a BC.

They also detonate Tech. Only vs Health though. If they could detonate properly (like Cluster Grenades), they would be downright OP.

They still are OP, tbh. Sure, they're not even a half good detonator... but that grenade alone still can do killstreaks in a group of mooks, without any biotic or tech set to help it. Of course, they are useless against any kind of bosses.

And I understand that some may think that a chargeless vanguard makes no sense, yet having seen the build in action, it's still efficient. Depends on the playstile, I guess. Personnally, I'm all ears as soon as I hear I can charge into the heat of the melee.

Wow I didn't even think it was possible to spec Lift Grenades so weak that they wouldn't kill an unprotected enemy

That's irrelevant actually : the BE can occur even if it kills the unprotected enemy.

But, as a matter of fact, it's possible, even with a fully damage specced lift grenade, to see an unprotected enemy survive.

Possessed Collectors. Even with Barriers already down.

That's why I usually pop two or three nades. Guaranteed dead trollectors.

Something you will see even less often: a lift grenade priming for a biotic explosion (with the right evolution)
But, of course "your friend" (we know it's you anyway) can't detonate them because - MUUHAAA - no charge.

I think wheeljerk's comment is correct and not irrelevant.  Death by damage from the detonating power will frequently prevent the biotic explosion.  Sometimes it doesn't.  Throws vs a near dead trooper are an excellent and frequent example of this.  Meh.  Fits nicely into the Working as Intended bucket.  And makes Lift detonated BEs even lest likely.

As for unprotected enemies, frequently if they have been ragdolled or otherwise thrown by high force events like BEs, grenades, biotic charge they will only take a fraction of the damage.  I frequently have marauders giving my drell retconned elbows in the midst of three cluster frags a biotic charge and a falcon primed FE that should have killed him twice by leaves him with 8 health bars.  I think it has to do with the game engine revising their position on the map during damage application during ragdolling, either removing them from the field or putting them behind cover for a significant moment.  Yes, I just made that up.  Again, I'm sure it's Working as Intended.
