And have just bayonet weapon mods and hand-to-hand attacks as the only melee in the game? I see omni-blades kinda out of place, I wonder if anybody here thinks the same.

But of course that was just one of the many things that felt entirely out of place in ME3.

I dont have a problem with omni blades, they are practical: they are created from the omnitool in arm. A bayoneta(gun with) may fall from soldiers hands, but a OmniBlade cant fall ._. Strange there is no OmniSword for like, Phamton like classes...

I'm fine with the omni-tool as a melee weapon, as long as it does not go over the top like the omni-bow in multiplayer, or - to some extent - the shield. I guess those made some sense in MP because of the unique characters and everything, but they should keep that away from SP and keep the simple omni-blade as the heavy melee weapon for all classes.

How are bayonets or hand-to-hand combat any more practical that the omni-blade? I'm not in the military, but I'd imagine that combat knives are more common than bayonets at this point. I don't think either are more practical than just shooting, but combat knives have more general utility than bayonets.

And if you're going to punch someone, why no punch them with red hot silicon-carbide? My suspension of disbelief stops well before omni-crossbows, but There's nothing wrong with a deployable blade.

Never said bayonets/hand2hand was more practical, I just prefered it the way it was in ME1/2, but with ME3 weapon mods.

I still don't understand how you can stab someone with light...

It is not light, but an actual blade that is quickly fabricated then deconstructed.

I wouldn't say no to bladed pistols like the ones in Blade II. The power of bullets and axes all in one.

In fact I would never use any other weapon (aside shotguns).

They're kinda silly.

However, my first choice for weapons to be removed from ME would be swords.  Lets do everything we can in order to prevent a repeat of Kai Leng's complete douchebagginess, then we can look at the other stuff.

Yes, drop them. Also fix the animaties for new melee attacks, because weapons would dissapear during the melee attack and reappear thereafter.

Bladed pistols? No thank you. I don't need anime logic in ME.

No, they're too large a part of the setting for them to go inexplicably missing.

The Omni blade attacks are also kind of awesome, in a Rule of Cool way, and I'd much rather see Omni blades than actual swords, which I fear would end up being the replacement.

To the person above who said swords need to go...

Amen! Preach it!

Why would there be swords? ME is not a Sword and Planet setting.

See Leng, Kai.

My canon Shepard died in ME2, and thus the crazy alternative reality in which he survived (also known as ME3) never happened.

Omni-blades may be rule-of-cool for the most part, but they do make more sense as a melee weapon than punching. And they make a better utility than a bayonet.

The first thing that always comes to my mind upon hearing ridicoulus weapon attachement combinations is the infamous supressed grenade bug from MGSV.

Hope they remove omni-bow, it simply makes no sense.

Omni-blades make slightly more sense, but personally I would have preferred a more lower-tech version of a melee weapon.

For example, a combat knife with a small electrified eezo core inside that generates a warp field around the blade to be able to penetrate armor,

seems to me more sensible than waving around a big triangle of essentially plasma, that needs to be created from omni-gel specifically for every swipe and is suspended via space magic.

Such a knife can also spring from an armored gauntlet if one wanted to implement a punch-dagger into a combat armor.

I was thinking of short blades similar to bayonets but a bit broader.
