I didn't mind the elbow of doom. Actually had the most utility in ME1 where it could knock down enemies.
Would you like omni-blades to be removed from ME?

While i enjoy using the omni blade more, it was hilarious to storm and rag doll people

Never said bayonets/hand2hand was more practical, I just prefered it the way it was in ME1/2, but with ME3 weapon mods.
> ME1 melee
No. Just... no. That melee system was the definition of impossible to use.
> ME2 melee
Ehhhhh, okay, but running around punching krogans and security mechs was always funnier than it was sensible.

Why not just go all the way and make chainswords http://warhammer40k....wiki/Chainsword? ![]()
For the topic: I have nothing against omniblades, only used it to gut Kai. It's lore does make sense. (as much any does)
The reason I think it is effective against armor is because it is scorching hot and more burn through armor than cut.

Yes. I never understood the fascination with them.

No. Omni-weapons were awesome and gave each class a bit more personality in combat. Look especially at the different MP tools.

My canon Shepard died in ME2, and thus the crazy alternative reality in which he survived (also known as ME3) never happened.
My canon Shepard is still waiting for ME2 to start...preferably with no back-from-the-dead space magic.

Give the omni-blade new angles of striking

Assuming you could hit anything with it before they melee'd you.

Melee was pretty great against Geth in ME1. Sent them flying.
They could have done with some more stablility patches, I guess.

I should clarify:
I played this game on console. Whenever I ran, I would also be close to a squadmate, so it would count the run button as talking to them at the same time.
The game would proceed to briefly hang as it loaded a voice clip and then LEAP forward, completely throwing off any sense of aim I might have had.
The only time melee was ever reliable was when an enemy got close to me, but when they did, they were probably trying to melee at the same time, which was a crapshoot as far as who hit who first.

As Sten would say: No.

I never had a problem with this. On pc if that makes a difference.

Sten challenged the Warden when he was searching for Eamon's cure to gain support for the Wardens. He's not exactly a voice of wisdom in my book lol.As Sten would say: No.

I'd prefer that omni-blades be replaced with simple 6 inch combat knives since they would be just as effective and wouldn't light up like a xmas tree when being used.

Oh no. No they won't. Even if they are monomolecular blades they are inefficient due to the fact that thot you can pop out a smoking heated blade and nobody would even know. I am surprised that people don't like them the same way I'm surprised that people are taking Donald Drumpf seriously and voting for him.I'd prefer that omni-blades be replaced with simple 6 inch combat knives since they would be just as effective and wouldn't light up like a xmas tree when being used.

An a red hot omni-blade would be a liability in missions that requires stealth since you'd want to avoid being seen/detected. A monomolecular blade is just as (if not more) effective than an omni-blade since it wouldn't light up and make a sound when its activated. Some one talking out an unsuspecting foe with an omni-blade could alert others to their presence, if they took said foe out with a regular combat knife instead of an omni-blade they're more likely going to do it unnoticed.

Maybe they should let you turn down the brightness on your omniblade. Or have automatic brightness. ![]()

Maybe if the omni-blade was designed with stealth in mind, you might have a point. However, according to the codex entry on omni-tool weapons in ME3, the whole reason omni-blades and other such melee suddenly became widespread was because the Reaper ground forces had a tendency to rush and melee. And because omni-blades were both quick and easy to manufacture, and already attached, so to speak, they were used over more conventional melee weapons. It's much more difficult to use a combat knife in a sudden melee when it's not already in your hand.
For stealth, the Phantoms would be much better off, given how their blades work.
As for omni-blades in general, I liked them well enough. The addition of a heavy melee was welcome, and making each class have a different one was just icing on the cake. I would like them to return, though I don't know how they'll be justified lore-wise this time around. It's not like the Reapers followed us to Andromeda.

I don't mind them. Sure, they're Rule of Cool, but after stuff like Biotic Charge and Combat Drones seemingly made of light, it's not much more sillier than any other part of the 'verse.
Plus, mechanics wise, heavy melee was a welcome addition.
