I don't mind them. Sure, they're Rule of Cool, but after stuff like Biotic Charge and Combat Drones seemingly made of light, it's not much more sillier than any other part of the 'verse.
Plus, mechanics wise, heavy melee was a welcome addition.

I'll answer this simply. It's an unique thing of this franchise and cannot be removed even for practical reasons and realism. Mass Effect is a space/science fiction game after all and anything that doesn't look/sound realistic can be coped.
I heard you can use one in MEA. It was from the leak but it's pretty true so far.I was glad to finally have access to the Omni-Shield that the Shadow Broker uses. Too bad Shepard was deprived of being able to use it.
I definitely don't want them removed, I love the omni-blades. I like playing as an infiltrator, cloaking to get behind enemies, and then killing them with the omni-blade while they are distracted by my squad mates. It's like I was playing as Kasumi lol.

No. Nonononono. Omni-blades don't go against the lore and make a lot more sense than punches or conventional knives. In fact, I want more omni-weapons in SP. Omni-punches, omni-claws, omni-swords, even omni-whips. Maybe not omni-crossbows though. I'm ok with more realism in ME but not to the point it takes away the fun.
What if the Mako was actually an omniMako?
That's pretty silly. What if the Mako was actually an omniMako?
No and I still ache for an Omnibow.
I liked the addition of omni-weapons. Thought it was cool to see the team expand the omni-tool's use like that. Melee will probably still suck, but I'd like to keep my omni-weapon just incase I want to do a quick melee on some cheeky gubber that got close or for an over-the-cover grab
Well, this is actually an interesting question if you go with the hypothesis that the ARK ships leave before ME2. If this is the case, why would there be omni blades in ME:A? They weren't even developed in the MW yet. Was the concept then developed individually in the MW and in Andromeda? That seems unlikely. I guess it's possible that the idea already existed since 2183 and only was implemented in 2186. Some engineer that went to Andromeda knew about the concept already and implemented it there.
MOFO they said in codex that omni blades and stuff like that have been around since the invention of the omni tool.Well, this is actually an interesting question if you go with the hypothesis that the ARK ships leave before ME2. I'm fine with the omni-tool as a melee weapon, as long as it does not go over the top like the omni-bow in multiplayer, or - to some extent - the shield. I guess those made some sense in MP because of the unique characters and everything, but they should keep that away from SP and keep the simple omni-blade as the heavy melee weapon for all classes.
All clases? No way, I have biotics (I ALWAYS play an Adept (I've tried some of the other classes, but I've always returned to the Adept...haven't finished a run with any other class!) why should I use a blade if I can just knock them away from me with those? ![]()
ps: No, I don't want it removed - I like it (I'd like it if the Omni-Tool did provide even more powers etc. to everybody who uses one (I hate that overload, which isn't like hacking (which needs tech-knowledge and skill), isn't available for everybody for example (it's after all produced by the tool at the push of a button!)
What if the Mako was actually an omniMako?

Into it.
EA has a licence for Star Wars games, don't they?
Just give Ryder a lightsaber and be done with it.
Hell, the game's even set in a galaxy far, far away.
thats gangsta!!!!!!!!
Into it.
Hmm, I confess, I don;t actually use the omniblade. I just shoot them in the face. It's my first instinct.
*shrugs*
Bladed pistols? No thank you. I don't need anime logic in ME.
No.
Omni-blade >>>>> than the blasted katana people wanted in the other thread.
Katana has it uses but yeah, keep omni blades. Badass. I also want my Ryder to have batarian enforcement guantlets.No.
Omni-blade >>>>> than the blasted katana people wanted in the other thread.
do real soldiers no longer carry combat knives? why would I want that when its such a iconic tool within the mass effect lore?
Nope.
The improved melee attacks in ME3 were all a step to the right direction, and I love how they change depending on your class (well, most of the time). I absolutely hated how you were absolutely SOL if you let an enemy come to a melee range in ME and ME2, particularly when your melee punch looked like Shepard was trying to elbow her/his way into the front of a line in a concert in stead of fighting against a deadly thread.

Say what you will about it but you know that elbow got Shepard to the stage front in no time. ![]()
While I never used it I'm not against omni-blades/crossbow or whatever they will invent.
However what I'm against is blunt-weapons, space-katanas and ninjas with acrobatic skills.
