What were some of your favorite romance-specific lines? These were some of the most memorable to me, though there are tons more. I just picked a handful of my favorites. Spoilers ahoy, I suppose.

Zevran:

"It's meant a lot to me, but so have… so has what you've done." (This is when he gives you the earring. That little pause when he realizes what he's about to say just kills me.)

Zevran: Do you want me to leave? Do you need me here?
Warden: I want you to do what's best for you.
Zevran: I... am not sure how to respond to that. Nobody has ever... I mean, normally these things are decided by others. Er... I suppose I shall... stay? Is... is that... good?
(This isn't romance-specific, but it still brings the feels. And it's funny because you actually get MORE approval if you explicitly tell him you want him to stay with you.)

"In truth, for a chance to be at your side I would storm the Black City itself. Never doubt it."

Fenris:

Fenris: If I could go back, I would stay, tell you how I felt.
Hawke: What would you have said?
Fenris: ...Nothing could be worse than the thought of living without you.

"If there is a future to be had, I will walk into it gladly at your side."

"Festis bei umo canavarum." B)

Fenris: Meeting you was the most important thing to ever happen to me, Hawke. Promise me you won't die. I can't bear the thought of living without you.
Purple!Hawke: I didn't quite catch that. Could you speak up?
Fenris: Then let me make it clearer for you. *shoves his tongue down your throat*

Sera:

From her journal:
- Bit of her hair. Weave into bracelet with beads!
- Get beads (scratched out).
- Get book. Learn to weave (scratched out).
- Pay to get weaving done (scratched out).
- Wear it every day.

Also from Sera's journal:
Music sheets. The song from that night in Halam. I danced. She danced. We danced. (Sketch of Sera and Issala twirling on a dance floor.)

"The Fade?! Not good. I would. Rather be. ANYWHERE ELSE. But... you're here. You're here. Ha! Eat it, Fade! She makes it fine!"

Moar journal:
WE SAID YES!
- Lady Issala Adaar is my Wifey!
- Do I get her name? That's like family.

"Wait, wait, wait... you went to everyone and said I was your lover?! Right to their faces?! (happy sigh) Best gift ever." (Literally the best gift you can give her is to be proud of your relationship with her. Awwww. <3)

"Words used to mean nothing to me, until they became vows. Now they mean everything. You mean everything."

If modern romance novels were generally better written, I would be quite a fan. As it is, I'm only a fan of one modern romance novelist, and her name is Loretta Chase.

My favorite of her books is called, Lord of Scoundrels. It has the most numerous examples of her penchant for writing characters express attachment to each other in a way that is both funny and sweet.

“Dain kept his gaze on his plate and concentrated on swallowing the morsel he'd just very nearly choked on. She was possessive... about him.

The beautiful, mad creature - or blind and deaf creature, or whatever she was - coolly announced it as one might say, "Pass the salt cellar," without the smallest awareness that the earth had just tilted on its axis.”

You know... I've realized that most of my favorite scenes from romances are individual moments, or reactions, and not dialogue.

Dorian is more of a "show, not tell" sort of guy, and sometimes has to be provoked into showing it (post-Adamant, drinking from the Well, etc). His sappy lines come in Trespasser where he's obviously more comfortable with the relationship and the idea of its permanency (this is especially important).

However, I will say that his "there's no you in Tevinter," line at the party if he's going to stay in the South is pretty damn great.

My other favorite romance is with Fenris, and the moment that sticks out for me there is during the Alone quest. Hawke can say, "I'm here, Fenris," after which he turns around, touches their face, and has a sad smile. It has an even greater impact because the camera is from Hawke's POV, so you don't see them, only Fenris. That gets me every time.

For non-game romances, the line that immediately comes to mind is from Jane Eyre.

I sometimes have a queer feeling with regard to you — especially when you are near me, as now: it is as if I had a string somewhere under my left ribs, tightly and inextricably knotted to a similar string situated in the corresponding quarter of your little frame. And if that boisterous Channel, and two hundred miles or so of land come broad between us, I am afraid that cord of communion will be snapt; and then I've a nervous notion I should take to bleeding inwardly.

You know what's coming  :P I love some of the lines in Anders' romance

A: But if you'd join me, I'd rather be on the run with you than safe with anyone else.
H: Then we will be fugitives together.
A: Ten years, a hundred years from now, someone like me will love someone like you, and there will be no templars to tear them apart.

A: But I don't ever want to leave you.
H: Want a sandwich?
A: You'll be an inspiration to generations of romantic poets

Or the more romantic version
H: I want you here until the day we die

A: Here I always figured you'd be the one coming to spring me from someone's dungeon. I had it all planned. I'd be in the Gallows, templars all around, holding the brand for the Rite of Tranquility. Then you'd burst in and break my chains. And then it would be all about the best way to show my gratitude.
H: Did it have anything to do with finding another use for those...chains?
Fenris: Get a room!

If we're talking about non-BW stuff, then there's a poem by E.E.Cummings that everyone probably knows, but I had only found it a while ago and I really like it. It's sexual, but in a romantic way.

"But I can't imagine you with all your complexity, all you perfection, all your imperfection."

- Inception

"Why, you stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking Nerf herder."

Couple more from DA: I liked Morrigan's "YOU MISERABLE SELFISH BASTARD" rant and Sera's response when Vivienne snarks at her about marrying up: "I have a title. It's wife."

And love advice from Juno's dad, which remains one of my favorite movie quotes of all time: "Look, in my opinion, the best thing you can do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you... the right person is still going to think the sun shines out your ass. That's the kind of person that's worth sticking with."

Ah, there is too many great lines from the games to pick! As for non-game examples;

Westley: As you wish

- The Princess Bride

---

Selina: Y'know, mistletoe can be deadly if you eat it.

Bruce: A kiss can be even deadlier... if you mean it.

Selina: Oh my god... does this mean we have to start fighting?

- Batman Returns

---

The Doctor: What do you think of the towers?

River Song: I love  them.

The Doctor: Then why are you ignoring them?

River Song: I'm not, they're ignoring me. But then... you can't expect a monolith to love you back.

The Doctor: No you can't...They've been there for millions of years. Through storms and floods and wars. Time. And no-one really understands where the music comes from? It probably has something to do with the precise position and distance between both towers. Even the locals aren't sure. All anyone will ever tell you, is that when the wind stands fair and the night is perfect... when you least expect it, but always... when you need it the most... there is a Song.

- Doctor Who

---

(And it occurs to me that all three of those examples were about professing one's love and affection for another, without the person saying it directly. I guess that's something that speaks to me... or I'm just incredibly soppy?)

Kirito: But er, are you sure it's okay for me to be over this late?

Asuna: Why wouldn't it be?

Kirito: Oh sweet, naive, stupid Asuna. You may not be able to see the dubious implications, but to a man as worldly as I... *notices she's turned the light off*... Err, Asuna?

Asuna: Why are your pants still on, are we doing this or what?

Kirito: *Terrified squeal*....
